The PDGA is looking for a contributing editor to join the staff of the largest-circulation disc golf publication, DiscGolfer Magazine. The ideal candidate will have strong writing, editing, and communication skills and a passion for the fast-growing sport of disc golf. He or she will be a self-starter and able to work both independently and with a group.    

The contributing editor will find new stories and, as the magazine's primary content provider, write one or two feature articles per issue. The contributing editor will work closely with staff to produce each quarterly issue. Location is not important, as staff works remotely.

Required experience and skills

  • Demonstrated working experience as a content editor
  • B.A. or B.S. with an emphasis in writing
  • Excellent grammar, writing, copyediting and communication skills
  • Experience in writing style to appeal to different audiences and adhere to established brand voices
  • Self-motivation and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong listening skills, willingness to learn, ability to collaborate
  • Meticulous attention to detail

Desired qualifications

  • 2–4 years experience in reporting or editing for magazines or other print publications
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, write, and edit narrative features
  • High standards for accuracy and quality
  • A firm grounding in journalism ethics and values
  • Prior disc golf reporting a plus

This is a part-time, contracted position that pays $3,200 per issue and includes a complimentary PDGA membership renewal.
