All corrections need to be submitted no later than February 10th in order to be applied to the final 2009 ratings and statistics. Ratings were produced for over 1000 events during 2009. Ken Climo slipped back into the top spot with the highest rating in the world at year end of 1038 followed by David Feldberg at 1037. Climo is also the highest rated player over age 40. Steve Wisecup continues as the highest rated player over 50 at 1014 which is tied for the 53rd highest rating overall. Valarie Jenkins remains on top for women at 964 followed by Des Reading at 955. Elaine King is still tops among women over 40 at 943 which is 11th among all women.
The year end ratings and points are important for several reasons. These will be used for year end World Rankings and determining the final candidates for Players and Rookies of the Year. In addition, the point totals are used for determining invites to Worlds. Pro Worlds has a modest cap on the number of participants this year at 304 so getting an invitation will help secure your spot.
The first ratings update for the 2010 season is scheduled for March 23rd. The report submission deadline to be included for this update will be on Tuesday March 9th. This year there will be more ratings updates than ever with 8 official updates on March 23rd, May 4th, June 22nd, July 20th, August 31st, October 19th, and December 14th with the 2010 year end update on January 25th, 2011.
