This was posted on the PDGA website by the PDGA
Executive Administrator,
Brian Hoeniger on Jan. 5th, 2004:
The answers to most of these questions are in
the renewal/election
literature we sent out to all current members
in November, same info can
also be found in the magazine and at the website,
every year:
List of official invitees will be determined
in late Jan or early Feb
after 03 Tour Stats have been finalized. That
list and the qualification
standards will be posted at the website at that
time, but 03 current
members who finish in the top 20% in terms of
points in their
classification ie Amateur Master within their
State or Province should
all make the cut.
All other interested players who are 2004 current
members can get their
names on the waitlist as of March 1 which is
the day the waitlist begins
by contacting the PDGA office, preferably by email. We will not accept any
waitlist requests prior to 3/1/04 and we will not add anyone to the list
who has not paid their 2004 dues until they do so.
The waitlist will be reviewed for the first
time in mid May after the
official qualifiers have had ample time to get
their entries in. Review
of the waitlist is not first come first served,
but rather based again on
qualification standards beginning with 2003 Tour
Points.
Lastly and this is the only really IMPORTANT
change from previous years
*** the deadline for receipt of entries by the
PDGA will be 2 WEEKS prior to
the event as specifically requested by the host
Des Moines DG Club ***.
Whether the Pro or Am or Junior field or a specific
division within is
full at that time will not matter. This is in
order to allow the hosts to
have everything in place in good time. Again
this is per a specific request
of the host club and has been agreed to by the
PDGA. As such there will be
no exceptions.
That being said we anticipate a full event of
some 900+ players and it
is possible that some divisions will fill well
in advance of the deadline
due to demand, the fact that the event is centrally
located geographically,
the course designs which were already solid are
being strengthened further
by the host club based on review in October by
John Houck on behalf of PDGA
with the club, and the fact that one of the strongest
if not the
strongest club out there will be partnering with
us to lead what will be the
biggest and possibly the best PDGA Tour event
ever.
We look forward to seeing tons of you in Des
Moines!
Regards
