What a finish to the Texas swing of the Disc Golf Pro Tour.

Coming into Championship Sunday of the Texas State Disc Golf Championships presented by Lone Star Discs, everyone knew the FPO race was going to come down to the wire, but it happened in MPO as well.

But both champions clutched up when the pressure was the highest.

The job’s not done yet.

That’s the mentality Anthony Barela had after absolutely scorching Brock Park on Saturday at the 2024 Disc Golf Pro Tour — Texas State Disc Golf Championships presented by Lone Star Disc to build a six-stroke lead.

The job is certainly not finished in FPO — far from it as Anniken Steen and Ohn Scoggins both turned in another stellar round of disc golf to share the lead heading into Championship Round. Right on their heels in Kristin Tattar, just three strokes back after a scorching day of her own in Houston.

It was a double-digit day at the top in the Space City to kick off the Disc Golf Pro Tour — Texas State Disc Golf Championships presented by Lone Star Disc.

Norway’s Anniken Kristiansen Steen was the first player to hit that mark early Friday to kick off the opening round of the final stop of the Texas swing. Ohn Scoggins would best that score by one stroke not too much later for the solo lead heading into the weekend in Houston.

Anthony Barela was the only player in MPO to hit double digits.

History was made Sunday in Austin, Texas.

Ohn Scoggins capped off one of the most dominant tournament showings in PDGA history to start things off and an emotional roar from Niklas Anttila ended another thrilling stop on the Disc Golf Pro Tour at the Open at Austin presented by Flight Factory.

Mother Nature got out of the way early and then Ohn Scoggins kicked off an all-out day of shredding in both the FPO and MPO divisions in Round 2 of the Disc Golf Pro Tour – Open at Austin presented by Flight Factory.

After a delay to start the day, the forecast of rough weather disappeared, opening an all-out assault on the calm track at Harvey Penick Golf Course.

Mother Nature threatened, but the Texas skies held on Friday for the opening round of the Disc Golf Pro Tour — The Open at Austin presented by Flight Factory Discs.

The wind swirled throughout the newly designed and well-received track at Harvey Penick Golf Course, but the weekend forecast and darkening skies upped the pressure to start strong.

A new and upgraded Disc Golf Network platform was announced on Tuesday with the release of the 2024 DGN media plan.

At the forefront of DGN's recent migration to Insys Video Technologies as the network's service provider and an enhanced partnership with Amazon Web Services is the chance for disc golf fans to choose from multiple subscription plans as well as continue their benefits as an active PDGA member. DGN will now offer three plans: DGN Basic, DGN Standard and DGN Pro.

This is it, the final round of the 2023 Elite season. After a season of chase card comebacks, logjam leaderboards, first-time PDGA Major winners and a grand slam season, the top tour points leaders fought through the semifinals to make it to the last round of the finals of the 2023 Disc Golf Pro Tour Championship presented by Barbasol.

As we’ve seen all year, both the FPO and MPO competitions came down to the hole 18 to crown the 2023 DGPT Champions.

Nevin Park was broken.

Ricky Wysocki torched the woods in Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday to open the sprint-to-the-finish finals of the 2023 Disc Golf Pro Tour Championship presented by Barbasol.

Wysocki set the course record with a 10-under round after the cut was made and the scores were reset heading into the weekend at the final Elite Series event of the year.

He added a few more strokes of his own on Thursday at Nevin Park in Charlotte, North Carolina.

After 15 Elite Series, nine Silver Series, and four Majors, the Disc Golf Pro Tour has reached its final stop of the season with the 2023 Disc Golf Pro Tour Championship presented by Barbasol in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The DGPT Championship has been held at the end of the season each year since the DGPT’s inception in 2016, showcasing the players who performed the best in each given year.

The Disc Golf Pro Tour, the official pro tour of the PDGA, is excited to unveil a first look at its 2024 season schedule. The North American tour schedule, alongside the 2024 PDGA Pro Major schedule, represents a large majority of the events that will earn points toward the 2024 DGPT Championship. A separate schedule of DGPT points-earning events based in Europe will be announced at a later date.

Missy Gannon started her title defense at the 2023 Disc Golf Pro Tour — Discraft Ledgestone Open with a throw that no other FPO player has done in the history of Northwood Black. Meanwhile, a calm day at Lake Eureka opened the floodgates for birdies in MPO.

One day down, three to go at the second DGPT Elite+ event of the year.

FPO

As if we needed more excitement, Kristin Tattar's three-shot lead over Missy Gannon vanished at the 10th hole to offer us an even more exciting final round!

We arrive again at the demanding 12th hole, and two almost identical shots have a very different destiny: the World Champion has a small cut-roll at the end that brings her back to inbounds, while the American has a higher skip and stays OB, and this two-stroke swing seems to end the excitement.

The Champions Cup invite list includes champions from all 2021 PDGA Elite Series events, comprised of five PDGA National Tour and 11 Disc Golf Pro Tour stops, as well as all MPO/FPO Majors, including Pro Worlds, the United States Disc Golf Championship, and the United States Women’s Disc Golf Championship. The MP40/FP40 winners of the PDGA Masters Disc Golf World Championships are also invited to attend.

The PDGA Majors Committee has established a preliminary list of premier disc golf events that will serve as automatic qualifiers for the inaugural PDGA Champions Cup, set to take place April 14-17, 2022, at the International Disc Golf Center in Appling, Georgia. The field size will be limited to 100 MPO and 40 FPO. Registration will be offered in tiers and will be based on PDGA player ratings once invited players have had an opportunity to register.

Stumptown Disc Golf is once again partnering with KEEN footwear in conjunction with Innova & Next Adventure to bring you the 2011 Beaver State Fling (www.beaverstatefling.com). This PDGA Elite National Tour event will again take place on Milo McIver State Park’s two beautiful 18 hole courses lining the banks of the magnificent Clackamas River in Estacada, Oregon. Due to changes in the National Tour schedule, the Beaver State Fling, which traditionally had taken place on Memorial Day weekend, has been moved to the weekend of June 24th - 26th.

The first event of the PDGA National Tour Elite Series has been completed and the Drive for the Championship presented by Vibram Disc Golf is officially underway.  The current standings can be found at:

www.pdga.com/national-tour

The 2011 points race looks like to be an exciting year as we had two players who won their first ever National Tour event. Paige Pierce’s victory over Valarie Jenkins on the last hole gives her an early lead but Valarie did win last year’s “Drive for the Championship” and five National Tour events last year.

The 2011 Memorial Championship presented by Discraft is now full.  Even though registration has closed you can still sign up for the wait list at PDGAsignup.com on either the pro or am side. Sign up as normal and your credit card will not be charged unless we can get you in.
