The 2014 Tim Selinske US Masters Championships have finally come to an end after yesterday’s exciting finish at Mohawk Park in Tulsa, OK. Barry Schultz #6840 had the lead after the first round on Friday morning and would have to defend his lead all weekend with a target on his back. Out of the dozens of world class competitors at the event, only JohnE McCray #9852 would get close enough to potentially take the lead away.
As someone who’s walked with, tweeted about, and wrote articles about the lead cards at dozens of PDGA National Tour and Major events all over the country, it’s never been easy for me to answer a fairly simple question. It’s one that I’m asked at least once a week during the disc golf season. “Which players are the most fun to follow?”
After a long day with surprisingly good weather, the frst two rounds of the 2014 Tim Selinske US Masters Championships are officially in the books. The Masters division started and ended the day at Mohawk Park, playing both the Blackhawk course and Redhawk course, respectively. When they weren't stepping over snakes or cheking their legs for ticks, they were crushing drives and slamming chains. Good company, sunshine, and fairly low winds kept a smile on the faces of the competitors throughout the day and the rounds finished with high moral.
April is a major month for disc golf, both metaphorically and literally. The beginning of the month introduced the first PDGA Major event of the year, the Amateur World Doubles Championships. Less than two weeks after the last putt hit the chains at Am World Doubles, the National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships began. The NCDGC ended just a few days ago and we’re already in another city, prepping for yet another PDGA Major.
The 2013 PDGA Major schedule continues on this weekend in Burlington, NC. Cedarock Park will play host to the world’s best Master’s aged players at the 2013 Tim Selinske United States Masters Championships. The tournament venue, located in the former capital of all coat factories, currently boasts two permanent championship caliber courses and has had a third temporary course exclusively installed for tournament play.

With less than five weeks remaining until the Tim Selinske US Masters, this years event is shaping up to be a specialone. To start with, the Selinske family will be arriving from California in time for the players meeting, and staying forthe entire event. It would be nice if we could fill this event and show the Selinske family just how much Tim meant to all of us!

This weekend saw 200 players held hostage to the fortune of the Shawshank DG Course in Huntsville, Texas for the Innova sponsored Tim Selinske US Masters Championships. This annual event, now held in memory of Tim, proved to be one of the toughest tests of player’s patience and fortitude, attributes he had in abundance.

It was another hot and windy day at the Tim Selinske US Masters but competitors appeared to be enjoying the golf and the competition. In addition to another 27 holes at the ShawShank course players were also treated to a meal featuring beef stew and live music.
Barry Schultz continued his domination over the Pro Masters field shooting an amazing 13 under par and a 1073 rated round. Barry now holds an 11-throw lead over Phil Arthur and will be difficult to beat tomorrow.
It was hot at the 2011 Tim Selinske US Masters Championships, both literally and figuratively. The temperatures in Huntsville, Texas were near record breaking in the low 90s and the winds in the afternoon were 20+ miles per hour.
There were hot scores on the course as well with defending champion Barry Schultz beating the field by two throws with a great nine under par. The second best score was shot by Gregg Hosfeld in the Grandmasters division who now holds a six throw lead over fellow World Champion and Hall of Famer David Greenwell.

Event Celebrates Many of the Notable Leaders in Our Sport, Living and Dead
Last week the young bucks of disc golf enjoyed the hot Texas spotlight at the 16th Texas States Championships in Hitchcock outside of Houston, but this week it will be the Masters level divisions that will take over to show they still have plenty of game left at the Tim Selinske United States Masters Championship in Huntsville.
Ske would have loved it. Iffy weather, challenging courses, a relatively unknown player charging hard, the usual suspects lurking in the wings. Just a great day at the IDGC.
Players arrived at the park for the first of two rounds going out at 9:00 am. The sky was cloudy, forecast for some sort of precipitation during the day. The sound of chains ringing sifted through the forest back up to the clubhouse area. Just another day in disc golf paradise. The reality of a grueling day had set in, but the mood was up and everyone was in high gear.
