The National Team Challenge is in the books. For a breakdown of the results, check out the overall scoring detail page

The 2013 National Team Challenge tees off tomorrow (Saturday August, 31) at the International Disc Golf Center in Appling, Ga. The event is open for any team around the nation to join, and it gives everyone a competitive format to define the 2013 National Team Champion. Above all, it grants bragging rights to the victor until next year.

The 2013 National Tour continues this week in Appling, GA with the Disc Golf Hall of Fame Classic presented by Prodigy Disc.  Due to last minute scheduling conflicts, players were asked to make a quick turn-around after last week’s National Tour event, the “Steady” Ed Master’s Cup in Santa Cruz, CA; seeing some touring players travel as much as 2,300 miles to attend this week’s event.

Nikko Locastro and Will Schusterick have joined forces to promote the Pocket Disc to the Disc Golf world. Weighing in at 2.2 ounces and measuring eight inches across the Pocket Disc is capable of flying up to fifty yards. Pocket Discs are more portable than a rigid flying disc as they can be stuffed in your pocket or backpack where they wait ready for impromptu disc games of all sorts both indoors or out.  “They are great for killing time around the teepad when play on the course in front of you is slow,” says Schusterick.  Locastro adds, “When its nasty outside, I like throwing the Pocket Disc at targets in the house...It’s like indoor disc golf almost.”

It’s almost time for the 4th Annual Magnolia Open. If you ask any of the 56 women who have previously played in this event you will find that it comes highly recommended. How could it not, with the long list of benefits to the players? Including 100% payout, free camping, free food, huge player’s packs for both amateurs and professional players, fun side games including a Corn Hole tournament, KanJam and new this year, a Hott Shotts competition.

The Augusta Disc Golf Association (ADGA) is hosting the area's largest annual disc golf tournament, the Augusta Classic presented by Robolli's on September 15th & 16th 2012. The 2012 IDGC Amateur Championships will take place on June 2-3, just outside of Augusta, GA in Columbia County’s Wildwood Park at the International Disc Golf Center. As a PDGA B-Tier, this event will focus on some of the best amateur disc golfers in the Southeast as they battle on the grueling IDGC courses. This tournament is offering all amateur divisions which makes it easy for competitors to find a division that fits their level of play.

International Disc Golf Center Adds to Disc Golf Art Collection

This Saturday October 29th the International Disc Golf Center plays host to the 1st annual "Disc Golf For Kids' Sake Halloween Bash", which benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Heart of Georgia.  Brent Walton of Salt Lake City, Utah has run this event  for four years and is branching the "series" out to new venues.  Brent has combined his love for the sport of disc golf, with his favorite charity Big Brothers Big Sisters, and created a fun family friendly event for the community.

The singles rounds yesterday yielded some great scores and plays out for a heated competition during today’s team doubles round. The best three of each team’s four singles scores per round counted towards their cumulative team score. After everything was calculated, the race is extremely close. Arkansas and South Carolina are tied at the top with a one throw lead over East Tennessee State. Just two throws behind them is a three team tie among North Carolina State, Georgia, and Western Kentucky. Clemson sitting another two throws behind them and only five strokes out of the lead. The rest of the field has their work cut out for them.

On Saturday evening, May 1st at approx. 7:15pm, immediately following the Players dinner at the Disc Golf Hall of Fame Classic at the International Disc Golf Center in Appling Georgia, a new world GUTS catch record was set by Dave "Nez" Nesbitt, former USGPA and WFDF board member and presently PDGA Board President, thrown by Garrett Gurthie at 124 km/h. The record catch beat the old record of 123 km/h by 1 km/h and recorded by a brand new Bushnell radar gun. The catch was witnessed by approx. 75 disc golfers and friends/family, and verified by Brian Graham, PDGA Executive Director and "Crazy" John Brooks.

Spotted at the International Disc Golf Center this Thursday was Dangermuffin.  Dangermuffin is a band from Folly Beach (Charleston), South Carolina and have been taking towns by storm with their blend of American roots music.  With the release of their new album Moonscapes, Dangermuffin has exploded onto the national scene.

With their new found love of disc golf, touring, and playing the music they cherish Dangermuffin will be embarking on a coast-to-coast tour and will also be appearing at many music festivals in the months to come. These festivals include Mountain Jam, FloydFest, SummerCamp, and the Wanee Festival (which has a 18 hole disc golf course on the property).

"Steady" Ed Headrick

Well the day finally arrived and no one felt the excitement more than Ben Calhoun and Gregg Hosfeld as they readied themselves to complete their 1,000th course together. The weather could not be prettier. Without a cloud in sight, one can only assume the air was forecasting the flight of the discs.

There are now over 2,700 disc golf courses in the PDGA course directory. How many have you played?

Listed below are all of the PDGA-sanctioned disc golf tournaments that will take place at the International Disc Golf Center (IDGC) in 2024. To see information about course closures for events, please see our IDGC Course Closures and Updates page.
