Driven by our desire to see youth disc golf grow, Eagles Wings Disc Golf is again offering the Eagles Wings Junior Grant in 2018.  Our goal with this grant is to reward junior disc golfers who not only excel on the course, but are intentional about investing in their local disc golf community.

Today, we have not one but two exciting announcements for the disc golf world! Not only have the latest winners of the PDGA Innovation Grant Program been selected, but we are proud to roll out a much-anticipated change in the structure of the program itself.  Starting with this latest batch of applicants and continuing indefinitely for the PDGA Innovation Grant Program, the number of grant applicants to be awarded has been doubled from five to 10 and the maximum potential grant amount has been increased from $500 to $1,000!

Driven by our desire to see youth disc golf grow, and inspired by the Nate Doss Grant Program from 2016, Eagles Wings Disc Golf is offering their own Grant Program for 2017. This past year we worked with well over 1,000 youth teaching clinics, running leagues, and hosting tournaments and we are excited about the future of youth disc golf.

In 1998, “Steady” Ed Headrick #1, the inventor of the disc golf basket and founder of DGA (Disc Golf Association), took a chance on a young boy and brought him to his first PDGA Disc Golf World Championships. That young boy was none other than 13 year old Nate Doss #11794. At the time, Ed could have never imagined the effect this would have on young Nate, who would eventually go on to become a 3X winner of the PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championships as well as a 1X winner of the PDGA Junior Disc Golf World Championships.

The PDGA Innovation Grant Program was created in 2008 to increase and promote the awareness of the sport of disc golf and the Professional Disc Golf Association. Applicants are encouraged to think outside of the box to develop innovative and unique programs which will promote the sport and increase participation.

The deadline for submission of applications for the first round of 2015 Innovation Grants is June 1, 2015.

The World Flying Disc Federation is pleased to present its 2014 Report of its Development Grants Program and put out the call for new grants applications for 2015. In 2014 a total of US$ 26,739 was committed and the WFDF board has budgeted up to US$24,000 for 2015, with individual grants limited to no more than US$1,500 each. WFDF also plans to expand this year its disc missionary program, providing discs to travelers to areas with limited disc activity.

Guidelines:

In its desire to see a Houck-designed course developed in Carrollton, GA, the Carrollton Disc Golf Club along with the support of HouckDesign rallied thousands of Facebook voters to submit daily votes over a several week period for a State Farm Neighborhood Assist Grant…and won! This is the first grant ever won for disc golf by public voting which is testimony to the sports ever growing popularity and might even be considered as evidence of the sport’s evolution into a main stream outdoor recreation activity.
