The field of competitors, the phenominal courses, the player’s packs, the camping, and last but absolutely not least, the hospitality and professional manner of Tournament Directors Jeff Mittl and Jeff Hagerty all make this event a staple on the National Tour Elite Series presented by Vibram.

Valarie Jenkins extended her lead in the Open Women’s division by one over Sarah Hokom with a very respectable round of +2 on the day to give her a +3 total for the tournament. Hokom carded a +3 to put her at +10 and trailing Jenkins by 7 throws with just 18 holes left to play. Paige Pierce turned in a +5 and Liz Lopez fell back a little with a +9 but at +13 and +14 for the tournament respectively so they will have their work cut out for them if they are to make a move on the lead.

Carr Captures Crown at Beaver State Fling; Paige Pierce Finds Favor at Milo McIver to Finish Second

When Liz Carr came off the 16th green at the Milo McIver East Course during Sunday's final round at the 2010 Beaver State Fling, she was not going to let the six she just carded deter her from giving it her all during the last two holes.  She was still pursuing Des Reading, who had a one throw advantage, as well as trying to hold off the over-achieving teenager from Texas, Paige Pierce, whose 911 rating belies her true disc golf talent.

When Christian Dietrich was asked what the difference was on this Sunday afternoon in Estacada, Oregon that lead to his win at the 2010 Beaver State Fling, he sagely offered that he came into the Finals with the lead.

Dietrich Lays Down Law to Claim Lead at Fling

For Missoula, Montana's Christian Dietrich life is very much worth living right now.  With the appealing combination of never-ending smile and incredible long putting, Dietrich sits atop the Beaver State Fling leader board with a gaudy five-throw lead over Nikko Locastro going into today's final round at the awe-inspiring Milo McIver State Park's East Course.

Dietrich Dances Through Rain to Fling Lead, Pierce Plays to Top in Women's Open

The 2010 Beaver State Fling began with the threatening skies making good on its promise of rain, as steady afternoon showers added to the difficulty of the already challenging Milo McIver Riverbend courses along the Clackamas in Estacada near Portland, Oregon.

Despite the wet weather, Christian Dietrich
duplicated his first round score of 53 during the afternoon session to claim the top spot on the leadercard after Friday's session.  His 1058-rated second round was tops of the day, and it was matched by Josh Anthon who is one throw off the pace with a combined 13-under par.

Disc Golf's National Tour to Peak in Shadow of Mount Hood
2010 Beaver State Fling Adapts to Accommodate the Enormous Demand of the Event

When Beaver State Fling Co-Tournament Directors, Mike Phillips and Jeff Mittl, were soliciting feedback on what time of day the registration for the 2010 edition of disc golf's gold standard event would occur, their concerns were genuine.

"After the overwhelming online response we received during last year's event, we did not want to be caught unprepared when we opened the floodgates again this year," Mittl said.  "The Fling sold out in less than four hours last year, and we just wanted to make sure that everyone who wanted to play this year got a chance to sign-up."

Due to the overwhelming response to this year’s sign-ups for the 2010 Beaver State Fling National Tour Event, the staff has decided to split the Pro/Am weekend in order to accommodate additional players.  The National Tour event will take place on the originally scheduled weekend of May 28th-30th and the Amateur Super Tour event will take place the following weekend of June 5th and 6th.
