Heading into the final round of the 2017 Gentlemen’s Club Challenge, both Ricky Wysocki and Paige Pierce appeared to be unstoppable. For three straight days, they played nearly perfect disc golf, taking the lead early and never looking back, despite having many of the world’s best on their heels. The race for the first PDGA National Tour win of the year was on, with a very talented two competitors earning a head start.

Saturday was moving day for some, but in the case of Ricky Wysocki and Paige Pierce, it was just another day of moving even farther apart from those chasing after them. Both Wysocki and Pierce are heading into the final round of the 2017 Gentlemen’s Club Challenge presented by Innova Champion Discs (GCC) with a chance to walk away at the end of the day as wire-to-wire winners against a majority of the best players in the world.

Two rounds down and two to go as we get closer and closer to crowning the first PDGA National Tour champions of 2017 here in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Gentlemen’s Club Challenge presented by Innova Champion Discs (GCC). Coming into the round with a majority of the field just a few strokes apart, we were bound to see some significant changes in the rankings by the end of the day.

Coming off of their PDGA Major victories at the 2017 Aussie Open just a few weeks ago, both Ricky Wysocki #38008 and Paige Pierce #29190 are already making moves at the first PDGA National Tour event of the year, the 2017 Gentlemen’s Club Challenge (GCC). With three full rounds remaining and a multitude of talent right on their heels, it’s still far too early to even begin a discussion of whether or not they are on pace for the wins, but they’re certainly on the right path, and more than capable of pulling off wire-to-wire victories.

General Info

The first event of the PDGA National Tour, now in its 15th year, is generally considered the unofficial start of the disc golf season. Pros and Ams alike, whether they’re preparing for yet another year on the road or for their first experience of “tour life” are brought together for the first time, reuniting one of the strongest communities in contemporary sports for their first high-pressure competition of the year.
