PDGA Board of Directors

Wednesday, September 4, 2013 - 11:19

As a result of the summer elections and other circumstances, your PDGA Board of Directors has undergone a number of recent changes to its makeup.

Incumbents, Kevin McCoy and Peter Shive received the most votes in the recent elections earning new 3-year terms beginning September 1, 2013, however Peter Shive notified the Board that he did not plan on taking office when the new terms began in September stating, “I regret having to leave the Board. I would be happy discuss the reasons at greater length with any future Board member. I wish the best to the current Board and to the PDGA.” As a result, the Board made the decision to appoint Shawn Sinclair, the candidate with the third highest number of votes in the elections, to fill the vacated seat.

Yesterday, Avery Jenkins officially tendered his resignation announcing, "I hereby resign my position on the Board of Directors so that I can focus my energies on my game and other outside initiatives to promote the sport. I felt that as a Board Member I could only do so much to give back to the sport but I feel that as Player that I can do so much more to increase the exposure of Disc Golf Worldwide. Thanks to everyone including fellow players and PDGA members for their tremendous support."  In remaining consistent with how the previous vacated seat was filled, the Board appointed Dave West, the candidate with the next highest number of votes in the elections, to fill the unexpired term of Jenkins.

The Board vote was unanimous on both appointments and they felt that taking the candidates in order by number of votes in the recent elections was the best way to fill the vacated seats while ensuring that the choices of PDGA members were used in the process. Your PDGA Board members for the 2013-2014 terms are:

  • Bob Decker
  • Rebecca Duffy
  • Kevin McCoy
  • Karolyn O’Cull
  • Rick Rothstein

  • Dave West
