Worlds' Historical Marker

On our way back to town we drove past the "soon to be" site of a Historical Marker. It hadn’t been roped off yet and no plaque was visible, but we knew we were in the right place. The streets still had the asphalt primer and the gold bricks were on backorder as we were told. (This is why you are seeing so many of those gold parties going on - and those commercials about mailing your gold in “our safe self-addressed envelope” with “GOLD” written all over it – come on people, really?) Anyway, this shortage of gold is what is causing the delay in the brickwork for the road. The guard at the gate was very nice and gave us a brief statement of the history behind the “soon to be” site. It was this: "About 35 years ago (rough estimate) the world changed". We were allowed to get out and take some pictures though… because I was recognized for my Lego exhibit from Westin Crown Center, of course (previous blog). They said this was actually a slow day for them…traffic wise…but they expected it to pick up after the gold bricks are laid. I had to sign all kinds of papers to release a photo of the marker so it wasn’t easy to get you this, but…

FINALLY I have my street.

But honestly and truthfully (aren’t those words the same?...anyway), we do have a historical story here at Worlds. Olive Bolander, 81, is the oldest woman to compete in a World Championship, as mentioned previously. Just to update you, she is having such a great time and loves the experience, as I’ve been told. Here she is with her round group and teeing off on Hole #1 at Pleasant Hills.

And she, my friends, is your true "Worlds' Historical Marker"…

Peace,
