Final preparations for the 11th Annual Glass Blown Open are taking place in Emporia, Kansas.  This is shaping up to be the best GBO to date and there is still time to register as all divisions are available to sign up for. With the Amateur and Junior World Championships being held in Emporia, this is the perfect year to play for your quest to become World Champion.

The Glass Blown Open is a unique event that the entire community of Emporia has embraced. The Emporia Country Club shuts down the course for ball golf while the disc golfers take over from Wednesday through Sunday. The same holds true for the Emporia Municipal Golf Course where the back nine is shut down and the brand new beautiful blue DGA Mach V baskets are erected. Both courses allow for practice rounds on Wednesday and Thursday for a small fee and golf carts can be rented for a unique experience. Players will check in at the Granada Theater on Wednesday afternoon and all day Thursday. A player welcome and introduction will take place Thursday night. Competition begins Friday with the Emporia Main Street Block Party shutting down two city blocks that evening just outside the Dynamic Discs store and Granada Theater.

This year the two blocks will be filled with activities, food vendors, putting competitions, distance showcase down the main drag, a huge downtown "ring of fire", and the largest beer garden that Emporia has ever hosted. It is destined to be a fun evening for everyone involved.

Saturday features another round with tee times where each player is introduced over the loud speakers before they tee! Poker night at the country club takes place that evening and is a good opportunity to just hang out with friends at the Clubhouse of the Emporia Country Club. Tallgrass Brewing is featuring great specials all week at the Club.

Spectator Sunday is when the professional players finish up at the Country Club. The players and community are encouraged to come out to the Country Club, enjoy the facility and watch some of the best golf in the country. Hole one is right next to the clubhouse and makes for a perfect hole to watch all day while hole 18's island green makes for a very fun hole to watch on the hill. The beverage cart will be out so if you want to walk with the lead groups you will never need to head back to the clubhouse. 

Once the final group finishes up on the island hole, the Skywalker's Distance Showcase takes place just outside the clubhouse as the final results are calculated and checks are printed. The Tallgrass Brewing Company encourages all players and spectators to stick around for the awards ceremony where the champions are crowned and famous Glass Blown Open trophies are handed out!
