Emerging Sports TV Debuts St. Jude Event
APPLING, GEORGIA—The Professional Disc Golf Association, in partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, is pleased to announce that the broadcast TV debut of the St. Jude Disc Golf Invitational tournament on Emerging Sports TV took place over the weekend, and will continue to be broadcast throughout the month of September, across 21 regional cable TV sports affiliates. This inaugural event held in May at the Bayonet and Black Horse golf facility in Seaside, California was a collaborative effort between the PDGA, the top manufacturers in the disc golf industry, and the world-renowned St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to raise funds for the patients at the hospital. This cooperative effort resulted in a charitable donation in excess of $250,000 to St. Jude, as well as the increased visibility and credibility of the disc golf community as a growing and potent force for social good within the overall sporting community.
The TV broadcast of this charitable effort is featured on the Emerging Sports TV series, which is distributed across 21 regional cable TV sports affiliates, including Comcast SportsNets in Chicago, Philadelphia, and Michigan, the Cox Cable affiliate in San Diego, Altitude TV, Tuff TV, and internationally in Puerto Rico and the Middle East. Last weekend’s debut of the Emerging Sports TV’s episode 6, which includes the St. Jude Disc Golf Charity Invitational, as well as coverage from the GoPro Games in Vail, Colorado, was seen on the affiliates below:

- MediaCom22 in Iowa and Missouri

Emerging Sports TV is in its first season and consists of a series of one-hour shows that prominently feature disc golf, as well as other sports like curling, mountain biking, slacklining, motor sports, and other events in this category. Founded by Dr. John G. Duesler, Jr. from DiscGolfPlanet.tv, Emerging Sports TV is creating a new category of sports broadcasting that features regional, national, and world championship events. By combining these events and sports into a single category of sports media, Emerging Sports TV’s goal is to raise the awareness and marketability of this class of competition, so that they can reach their full potential in the larger sports broadcasting marketplace.
