I've had a PDGA Tour bag for 3 years now and it's held up great. It was $60, plus you will be supporting the PDGA directly. They have different sizes to choose from. Get ready for a bombardment of Revolution bag supporters. Not sure what they cost now but it's a buttload compared to all the others.

whats your limit?
when I first started playing I bought a small bag from Academy for 12 bucks- had it for 2 years but I was in college at the time and didnt play that much. If your going to spend over 20 get a PDGA Tour Bag, over $75- get a revolution or Gateway. |

Right now I have a Lightning Large bag
Looking for something similar in size but a little more durable. Is a great bag for the price . The seam on the end pocket drink holder side busted next to the strap.Maybe it was from carrying too many 40's of OE 800. |

If your carrying around 40's of malt liquor aropund with you it sounds like your more interested in getting drunk than improving your equipment. Put your beer money toward a better bag.

Dont know if yer joking or not but I was . It was just water. I wouldnt drink malt liquor the CIA makes it to oppress the lower class, meaning me. (that was a joke/obscure reference to Public Enemy)
Anyway just looking for something thats worth the money spent. I dont want to spend 50-60 bucks for a 15-20 disc bag thats gonna bust up in under a year. I play just about every day even in the winter time and I know a bag is a major investment. I got 30 bucks so far in B-Day cash and $5 discount from GGGT for $50 on up purchases . I just dont want to blow another 30 bucks on a expensive bag that wont hold up. |

I highly recommend the Gateway Tour bag. It's been the best bag I have ever purchased.

As for bags, there are a buttload of threads on the subject. I guess you're young if you're still getting B-day cash so save up because basically you get what you pay for.

gateway or revolution for sure. i'm sure someone in your area has one, just ask to see it and decide which one has the the features you want. they are a little more money but are going to last you way longer.
and hey, if your don't carry that many discs it gives you lots of room for beverages

You really should go with a Revolution bag, I had the PDGA tour bag and the loops for quad shocks tore off after 6 months, it was a nice bag while it lasted though! I have had my Carolina bag for a year and a half and it still looks just like it did the day I got it. The only complaint I have is WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO MAKE A MICHIGAN BAG?!!?

I had a gateway bag for 2 years then gave it to a friend who used it for 3 years until it finally ripped this year... 5 + years on a bag is pretty darn good.

I bought a revolution bag three years ago and it has never ripped one time or anything. It is the best bag on the market, hands down.

Now for a smaller replacement - as I wish to pare down my disc selection - I'll have to decide b/tw a Gateway replacement or a Revolution...decisions, decisions...! To the original poster: If you manage to play 250 DG outings/year - then a $100 investment will cost you 10 cents/DG outing over 4 years. A new bag is an investment - as the comfort level and ease of use should dictate your choice. Over the years of reading threads like this one the consensus seems to point toward Gateway or Revolution from all the testmonials on this board. Do you want to risk being sorry...or satisfied? |

hey scott,
Could you list some of the differences between the 2. The Gateway Backpack is pretty functional and extremely durable. I would be willing to make improvements to the backpack but have never heard any complaints or suggestions. |

Scott's backpack was one of the older gateway backpacks...
I remember the thing basically fell apart. Zippers, frame, etc. However, it seems like the newer backpack bags are much better.

so i got an older one eh?
Basically the right strap started to fall apart.. the inside frame was always coming undone and it just didn't sit right when wearing it ever. I would enjoy trying out one of the newer backpack bags, but now that I have my carolina bag i'm quite content. -Scott Lewis |

I am not convinced yet Revolution is still pretty new in the market. I miss my wall city cube, I understand why they went out of business though, I bought the cube when I first started playing for maybe 35 and sent it in at least twice for minor problems and got a brand new bag both times. There was a company that made a high quality product and stood behind it as well if not better than any company I have ever dealt with.

Ah... the Wall City Cube.... truely a superior bag! I still have a cube and mega cube. They are great when you don't need the entire arsenal.
As for large capacity bags.... I'm using a Rev. club bag right now. I've heard nothing bad about the higher end Rev bags. I won a Gateway Tour bag many moons ago. It's didn't have the best features at the time. However, the quality of the Gateway bags has really improved over the years. People who have them, love them. The secret to keeping a bag in great shape is to not abuse it (no bag kicking!!) Don't overload it, so get one that's big enough. I don't think you could go wrong with either the Gateway or Rev bag. |

REVOLUTION Disc Golf has been designing, manufacturing, and selling bomb-proof disc golf bags since 1998. Is eight years still new?
Here's something to chew on. We've had fewer bags sent back for return than we've been in existence. Seems like a pretty good testament to the quality of our products for such a "young" company. Thanks, -Dave |

I don't think that is a putter pocket.

the new Innova Tour bag I have (~ spring 2005) is great.
Very durable, and has taken it's fair share of abuse. I totally reccomend this bag, the only issue I have is two water bottle holders on the same side?!?!? what's that about... I usually only carry 1 water anyways... but still, seems kind of odd to me. Other than that, super bag, I have a RED one... oooooooh...

I wonder how the pdga and innova can get away with calling their bags "tour bags", seeing as though weve used the name since 1995.
Is there somwhere in print where these non-Gateway bags are being advertised and sold as tour bags? |
