Default Rim width no longer limited?

The technical standards limit the rim width to 2.6cm:

How can the Innova "Throton" 3.3cm rim be PDGA approved?

Also, I thought PDGA wanted to limit distance potential, so that the sport can still grow without requiring over 30 acres for a challenging 18 hole course...this would seem to be a bad development for growth of the sport.

Is this an April Fools joke coordinated between PDGA and Innova?

Perhaps the flex rating of 4.01 was a clue?

Hah! Nice.

Good coordination between Innova and PDGA, that really sold it for me this morning with Tokyo jet lag, and before coffee!
