Does anyone know what the evergreen trees with the soft needles are called that are behind #13's pin and around numbe #14's tee at Moraine? Perhaps someone with the free tree indentify app on an iphone could swing by and check them out?
They are awesome trees and I would like to plant some around my farm but I am not sure what they are. Thanks, Tim |

Larch trees. Not sure which species (guessing American Larch or Eastern Larch). The tall one next to 14's blue tee pad is intertwined with a Maple. You can tell those two trees have been buddies for a very long time.

Deer Lakes made the July edition of Pittsburgh Magazine as part of their "Best of" segement. So Deer Lakes is now officially the "Best" course in the Pittsburgh area. Take that Phillips!
It's a pretty terrible picture but oh well. http://www.pittsburghmagazine.com/Pi...ticle=2#artanc |

Saw Tim's pic and the write up about Deer Lakes. All publicity is good pub...too bad they didn't mention Scholl's PFDO rounds being played there July 28 or The Hunt at Deer Lakes on Sept 29.

If we are really interested in hosting Worlds in 2014 it might be a good idea to put togther a promotional video of the courses. Do we have anyone in the club with a HD video camera that we could use to film with? Maybe getting some shots of some of the big boys this weekend at the PFDO would be good as well. If anything we could use it for future PFDO's.

Do you think that maybe for our A tiers and of course for Worlds if/when we put in a bid that we could contract out the disc design to a professional? There are some pretty good designers out there and they are relatively inexpensive. Could add a little something extra to the events and might make selling fundraiser discs a little easier as well.
