That is absolutely great DW Sr. When y'all were over here in Yadkinville for Mookies Cup I had Dave Jr. sign a couple of discs for me, one of which I sent to a friend who is in the DG Hall of Fame. Tell Dave Jr. he was tickled with the disc and a big congrats from Ramcat Ridge.

If you stand at the top of the stairs you can get at least another 10ft on that throw.

If you starve the 9yo for several weeks it makes them lighter. It also helps if they are wearing pants with strong belt loops to grab, like those old Toughskins that JC Penney made back in the day.

And Craig I find if you grab them by the ankles rather than the neck, a hammer throw technique works quite well.
Just kidding Djr. (and a closet works handily for the "fast")

Saddly, I was just thinking that we would see the 9yo toss covered by ESPN2 before they would cover a DG tournament.

"Talk about your long lists..." Hey Rooster, that's nothing. My 9 yr. old must be an ultra long range driver. Every morning I drive her all the way to the elementary school building from here. Weenie arm. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Congrats to the big armed Mr. Wiggins. (Hey, he may be 9, but if a 9 yr. old can throw that far, he should be called "Mr.") |

My 10 year old can roll 350' but can only throw 200. The problem is he won't use any long distance drivers, he uses a 155G Champ Cobra. I've put Valks, Beasts, Flicks in his hand and he doesn't like them. He won an 147G old school cyclone at a tourney last weekend, and he says he will try it. Hopefully he will because I know he can get more distance than he does.

Congrats to both of you! I met David at last year's Bull City, and was very impressed, both with his ability and his attitude. He has a great future ahead of him!

It's nice to see that me and a 9 year old are throwing the same disc for distance. I can probably beat him, but not by much.

At the Friday night doubles before the Oak Hollow Open 2004 (pro), I had the fortune to watch David play for the first time, and partnered with his dad. Little Wiggins is old school, using rocks and sticks to mark his lies, and going right up to the disc and slinging 30'+ putts and making them. A bright future doesn't even begin to acknowledge his potential!

Most youngsters favor a forehand shot...was this a forehand throw?

He was tossing forehand up till about 3 months (i think) ago.
Dad talked him into trying the backhand for distance. I think it worked

Yes Jake and all, it was backhand. He started out sidearm and threw that way until about 4 months ago. Distance seems to be a little farther with backhand. Also thanks everyone (from my son) for the kind comments. I showed him the thread last night.

For the record, David threw 343' 5 " on the 16th at a Parks and Rec event in High Point, NC run and officiated by Tatersack Spurgeon and Jake L. It was a bit windy 17 MPH. He turns 10 this weekend, so no more attempts at 9 y/o. Jake was kind enough to take photos and a digital mini movie.
