Flyers are up... I’m looking forward the event being bigger and better this year. I gave away a free entry to The Harrah Open at the OKC Ice Bowl this weekend, and will give away another at the Norman Snowball on the 12th.

Reminder – The 2011 Harrah Open will be held at Harrah Heritage Park. The course will be set up on the morning of the 26th.

The park is larger with a pond in play on a few holes and has plenty of parking. The city is also planning to close the lane of Harrah Road next to the park. Overflow parking will be available in this area.

Don’t forget your donation worthy discs for the raffles.

Register early – it’s worth it.

Are you going to let bubba and hatcher and some of those other 950+ rated golfers sign up in pro2 again? I think there should be some sort of rating cut for pro1 and pro 2? maybe 935 or 940 or less?

That is a tough one...

I am not opposed to a cut off, but the Libertarian in me dislikes telling other people what to do. My number one goal is for everyone to have a good time and want to return.

I think a fair place to put something like that might be in the 950-960 range. Most of the Open players in that range should be playing PRO1. Any AM above that should probably consider moving up.

Proposed Cut-Off Effects
PRO1 Any Rating - 37 Registered OK PRO Players above 950
PRO2 <=950 - 17 Registered OK AM Players above 950

PRO1 Any Rating - 29 Registered OK PRO Players above 960
PRO2 <=960 - 7 Registered OK AM Players above 960

All that being said, I really don’t want to make a rule that is only targeted toward a few golfers. Keep it fair and fun...The Harrah Open is a great opportunity to play in a division above your skill level. 70% of the people who participated last year got something via cashing, raffles, CTP, or free Entry (How many events can say that?).

I would hope that deep down everyone knows where they should be playing skill-wise. However as the TD I suppose I do reserve the right to suggest what division you play in based on your skill level.

oh they know where they should play, but they also know where they will stand the best chance of a win. When Bubba signs up in pro2 division this year you distract him Mike and I'll turn his discs in for raffle tickets!!

Mike it does no good to complain! The more you do the more tournaments bubba will play advanced in. Who cares what division him and Hatcher play! If you're tired of bubba playing advanced then maybe you should help him win worlds so he will move up!

I am trying to get bubba to win a world championship, by getting him to compete against the best players in the state not just playing against john every weekend. I think he will get better by playing against them. Cry baby? whos the one thats scared to step up?? given me your skills and see where I would play!! It is non sanctioned so you dont lose your lifetime am status!! I could do pretty well in inter. but moved up to play against adv masters and hopefully someday I can make it up to compete with the open players.
Its only feb and I got the ball rolling woo hoo!! gonna be a good year!!!

Isn't Joseph already a World Champion. (2006)

He will not win another if he won't step up and play against the Big Boys.

i think you should have to take one jagerbomb for every five points over 935 you are when playing pro 2. i also think the people below 935 should provide the jager and redbull for the shots.....

Forecast says 67 on Saturday. Should be a fantastic day for golf. If you are on the fence on whether to attend this should put you over.

The course will be marked Friday and in the ground early the day of the event...Drive safely, Hope to see everyone Saturday!

The course is marked. The baskets will be there early in the morning tomorrow. The Lions Club was setting up the food trailer in anticipation for a huge crowd of hungry golfers. Already seen a few people looking around.

Both the outside lanes on Harrah Road will be blocked of for extra parking. In addition, they are putting up a stop sign at the entrance to slow the flow of traffic near the park.

Registration from 8:00am - 9:00am - Start at 9:30am. The first round will be followed by a lunch break with the second round start TBD.

This year's event is being held at a new location HARRAH HERITAGE PARK in downtown Harrah.

Big thanks again to the City of Harrah and The Harrah Lions Club, without both of them this event could not happen. If you get a chance make sure to say how much you appreciate them because I know I do.

71 people ...wow. 7 Women - enough for their own division. Thank you to everyone for coming out and braving the early morning cold to finally see some sun in the afternoon. The Lions Club was awesome and kept everyone fed. The City did a nice job getting the park ready. Due to a few well positioned angled "greens" and errant tosses the pond was a disc graveyard. There is no shame in laying up.

Thank you to those to helped get the baskets on and off the course ... it was super smooth. Might consider doing doubles next year after the round since we got done so early and people still seemed hungry for more golf. I have already started thinking about the 2012 Harrah Open...See you next year!

Joe Ed Davis ($25), Matt Steward ($35), and Debi Osterllud($25) each won their entry back via CTP.
