Olton Disc Golf

I've had Olton on my 'radar' for a course for some time. In a very weird twist of events, it turns out that there are pretty good possibilities that Olton will jump ahead of other areas and enjoy the benefits of a disc gold course first. FYI - Olton is located about 24 miles west of Plainview or about 30 miles NE of Littlefield. The Olton park is in the SW side of town. There are really good trees in a portion of the park, some of which are evergreen trees. There is a lake in a portion of the park with fingers that reach out from the primary pond. I figure that a pretty good nine hole course will be the best fit for the park. The big key ingredient of having a local person in place....is in place....thanks Travis!!! More later....

Things have moved along. There is good interest in a course at the Olton park. Now we just have to cross a few hurdles, funding, etc. Travis is the man!

Travis and I met with the city manager. He was in great agreement that disc golf would be an excellent fit for the park and for the city. So, next up is to get the required approvals and needed funding. Travis will be presenting at a near future meeting to address both. So, all things considered, maybe we'll have a portable basket event in late spring / early summer. Olton Disc Golf on Facebook will be coming soon.
