2 courses, Trophy Lakes and Hampton Park.

B tier, Flyer is posted at http://charlestondgc.com

Players pack for Amateurs

$600 added to the pro purse so far

Jonas Card TD 843-819-6126, Amateur TD is Lauren Card :-)

Open players play Trophy Lakes Saturday and Hampton Park Sunday

Amateurs play Hampton Saturday and TL Sunday

2 questions

Not shown on the flyer, but may I assume the age-protected divisions (Masters, etc.) are being offered?

Will all Am divisions play the same tees at Trophy Lakes?

all divisions are offered

tees will not all be the same for all advanced groups, part of that will depend on the groups that pre-register, women will play from the short tees probably, the final word on the advanced tees will come from the Am TD

Thanks. My tee inquiry was not on my behalf---my wish for Advanced Masters is to play the long tees---but for a rec player. Being unsure if there will be a Rec division (if enough register, of course), since it's not listed on flyer, or whether he'll have to play Intermediate; and, either way, if he'll be playing the long tees at Trophy Lakes.

I suggested he contact Lauren, but if in the meantime you know and can post here, it may clarifiy this for others.

We would be happy to offer the men's or women's recreational division as well as any junior divisions. I will not force them to play Intermediate under any circumstance. I do not even require 3 people to form a division. I would guess that Recreation and Junior division will play the short tees at Trophy Lakes. There are not short tees at Hampton Park, so they would have to step their game up.

It's really just a couple of water carries at Trophy Lakes that NEED the short tees for certain division. Everywhere else, players have the option of bailing out to safety if they want.

Just a few words for anyone who hasn't played this event yet---

Few if any other multi-course tournaments give you a chance to play 2 fabulous courses in one weekend. Trophy Lakes is one of the more challenging and exciting courses you're likely to play. Not only is there water everywhere, but it's creatively used, and there are some great multi-shot, fairway-management holes. And the Charlestonians always have it in great shape for tournaments.

Hampton Park you won't know, even if you traveled to Charleston, unless you've played this event. It's an annual temporary course. Set in a gorgeous city park with enormous live oaks, ponds, fountains, gazebos, etc., it is set up each year for this event, mostly the same but always tweaked a little. There are some unforgettable holes and some great rewards for perfect execution. (It's generally set up the Friday before for practice rounds; don't miss your chance at this).

Charleston is, of course, a great place to visit. Even better in December, where there are frequently warm, sunny days there. Oh, there also may be a bit of wind.

Kudos to the Charleston Disc Golf Club for doing the extra work to run the Classic on 2 courses this year. More people can get in, and smaller groups on each hole.

Thanks Dave. We are just trying to give back a small portion of what we take from disc golf by hosting the best tournament we can. I hope that this event goes well and we can provide something good for the players to remember.

Pass along thanks to all the Charlestonians, as well. A tournament's a big enough undertaking, but to run one on 2 courses at once is huge. And that's before we think about the task of setting up, and later taking down, a temporary course at Hampton Park. I, for one, and quite grateful that all I have to do is play.

What's a half-dozen sunken discs compared to playing these 2 courses in one weekend?

Hey hey- I'm looking at coming out from Minnesota to play this. As of now, I have arrangements with Sarah stanhope to get around and lodge, but I'm wondering if anyone would be willing to offer a backup plan in case Clemson is still playing. Sarah said if they are still in season she won't be making the tourney. Anyone?

I am thinking 2 rounds from the blues for the Pro players on Sat at the Lakes, but that is not set in stone.

I just got another sponsor for the event, so that puts some serious $$ in the Pro divisions!

I, for one, nominate #6 for a Gold Tee, about 100' further back, so the big-arms can enjoy the excitement us noodle-arms get barely crossing the lake.

My vote, with it's zero value, is for 2 rounds of blues at least through my division (Advanced Masters). If you're only getting 2 rounds at Trophy Lakes, you might as well get the full experience. Assuming daylight's not an issue.

Playing Tupelo for first time as well...Since I've relinquished my quest for the AM title this year as I'm just golfed out I guess I'll go for some cash for the 1st time this year...If I'm going to lose atleast I'll lose while going for the big bucks...

This is an important note: Registration is available on Friday at Hampton Park from 4-6 and Sat morning from 0800-0930 at both courses. If you are still on line at 9:30 AM, you are not getting into the Classic.

Player's meeting is scheduled for 9:30, but it will be immediatly following the finalization of the board, 9:45. Tee off at 10:00 AM.

Chances are extremely good that you will get in, especially if you are on line to register at 8:30 AM.

I am just trying to tell people to not wait until 9:30 to try and register because that will not fly and you will not play.

I will still be at Hampton Park Friday from 4-6 to accept registrations. This would guarantee your spot.

Doubles at Hampton Park start Friday at 3:00 PM at the concession stand/Tournament HQ

Another announcement: free pizza has been rumored for all players at Hampton Park Sat and Sunday

Hotels: Close are expensive, near 526, Airport and down 17 South a couple miles are $50 and less. Holiday Inn Riverview is $75 a night, but it is really close. There are 2 Mariott Hotels on Lockwood that are really nice and pricey.

Camping at TL is $15

Red Roof Inn, Mt. Pleasant is $52 (plus taxes) with PDGA discount. Just across Ravenel Bridge, easy commute to Hampton Park, a little further from Trophy Lakes than other options, in a pretty good "mall" neighborhood of stores & chain restaurants. Pretty good for the price.
