Starting this coming Wednesday we'll have 10 weeks of singles by division with an end of league payout - I think they said best 6 of 10 weeks. Flex start (have a card - go play) with last card a 3som going out by 4:00. This will aslo be the end of the Bag Tag Challenge & we'll have the championship @ NorthTown Park in late Jan.

Should be plastic - that's what every other club in the US does - but I'm not sure.

Planning on pot luck - I'll bring some smoked turkey we cooked while playing North Town this weekend.

So was the tuesday summer mini a one time thing, paid $10, AMs got cash payout weekly and at the end of the 10 weeks, if you had the points, AMs got a 10 week payout. AND SON OF A GUN, I GOT A PAYOUT.

How that goes from Cash to plastic, ????????

That was one of the best ran minis that was around.
I loved it and looked forward to it every week.
Why was that format/payout abandoned?

Tell ya what, Im just a newbie, an AM player.......

Seriously, Im on a ledge here, talk me down.

This may cause some whip-lash, but these are my thoughts. From the time we started charging to play the wednesday mini, we have allways paid out in cash (pro & am). At some point last year or maybe early this year we changed it to plastic and that did not seem to work due to low number of am's. I know one week I won am's and my payout was 8.00$$........we don't have 8.00$$ disc so i got a spotter and a credit which i never used and/or forgot about. So we went back to cash payout's on wednesdays. Believe me I am no pro, but play it so I can learn from the pro's no matter how bad I play, it seems to help in the long run (teams was an example this year). I still don't have their arms but have learned that smart golf sometimes beats big arms. All I can tell you guys (Abel & Manny) is that this club listen's to its members and the new cabinet coming in will also listen to the members, so hang in there, enjoy friends and some golf and believe that whatever the bump in the road give us, we have the power to fix the bump and move forward. I don't play sundays due to the 10.00$$ entry so I can't say anything about sundays. But I do play wednesday's and for 5.00$$ its worth it to me to play pro and donate my cash to someone else's pocket cause I get to see and be around great people and great golf and I learn from it and sometimes cash. I wish and hope that just because every club in the US does it that that does not dictate what our club does as like i said before, we have allways paid out cash for Pro & AM for as long as I have been in the club, and that has been since the beginning. So don't go away, stick around and work with us to fix the bump. Hopefully you are off the fence now. If not, then these words have fallen on deaf ears........Hope to see you guys tomorrow.......

Well May, You have a way with words and have explained things that help me to see things in the right manner and i appreciate that. I will go with the way things are done and if there are any changes/bumps, i will present them to the powers that be and let them vote on them. I will see everyone on wednesday.

It was Vinnie, Jimmy, and Bryan and I, and when we were putting, Vinnie said "It sounded like a hail storm" with all the missed putts hitting metal...it was "interesting" to borrow LaLa's term...Nice Round ET!!

Folks, here's one doc that has it all....the league info, weekly results, and the league standings, including the running total for end of league payout. Yes, it is a .txt file. No, it is not a spreadsheet.

I'd like to point out that for this 10 week league, we WILL be paying ams in cash during the weekly minis. It will be the end of league payout where the ams will receive merch. No, we don't disagree with the things that some have pointed out about plastic vs cash....especially Blake's well written post. Yes, we realize that things aren't always consistent as we want them to be.

Here's the league info:
http://pages.suddenlink.net/johne/Wi...glesLeague.txt

The top section are some details of the league; i'd be glad to fill in anything I left out, just contact me at jeaves@us.ibm.com. The middle section contains weekly results/scores. The bottom section has the standings. I'll update this each Thursday and send a note out that the page above has been updated.

Manny, can u create a link to the page above, on the Mini tab on the DoubleR website? Thanks! (perhaps we can discuss access so that i can deposit updates to this file weekly on the site hosting our club website...if so i can set up a redirect from the above link, to the Double R site, if it moves there)

Alright, so where do we go from here? Down to lower scores, hopefully. These #'s are embarrassing! Note that you have to play at least 7 of the 10 rounds before your high scores start being dropped. See yall next Wednesday!

Downloadable standings on website for viewing under the Minis tab.
feel free to just forward me the txt file via email and i can push it to the web server. keep the filename wintersinglesleague.txt case sensitive. thx.

Looks like I can make the mini this week (woo hoo 2 weeks in a row). Can I get a ride from the house so we don't have 2 cars out after powling? I can be ready @ 3:15.
