And i provided Taz with a copy of the Powling software we started using this time last year. I would say its apples/oranges compared to doing it via a spreadsheet (current powling is implemented as Javascript running in a web browser). I was never good with spreadsheets, lol.

As a player I like to know exactly what the format is........You ever ask yourself about all these new members we have in the club, that used to play with us and now they don't show up. I wonder if it has anything to do with format or uncertainy of format........I am an old member and thats my reason.......Now don't everyone get their pantys in a bunch....have fun...enjoy....play for fun.....good times. All I am doing is stating what many of the new members are to new to say and old members the balls to say

LMFAO
Good times with GOOD friends 12 pros and 7 ams .. sounds like the players are still coming out.. 1. Blake 7 holes won $15 T2. Cware and Jamie 6 holes won split $17 T4. New guy Phil and John E 5 holes won split $4 Good seeing Tree out playing again that guy can still putt.. ams played skins due to odd number of players. so not sure who won heard Joe M had 10 and ware2 had 5 but not sure what the payout was. John can you post up the ams skins and payout and who won powling????? Able thank you for bringing the food for the masses sorry could not stick around but the wife had seafood on the brain so we headed to Blue star.. |

Ams:
1. Joe 11 skins won $11 2. Matty 6 skins won $7 3. Ware2 5 skins won $3 Powling....we had 2 rounds, 10 players each round. First round Abel wins with a 155....he had 7 strikes but it was the strategically placed gutters that kept that score from being much higher ;-). Johne got 2nd with a 150. Second round of powling, Abel throws $10/extra into the pot for a $20 payout.....Jamie wins with a 145, Martin/JohnE/Abel tied for 2nd....in the ensuing playoff for 2nd and a whopping $5....all i know is it wasn't me, lol (i got distracted about that point) |

i think we're focussing on last week which is not how its going to go, going forward. Last week I f*cked up. I made a bad decision. We will never again play match play and do payout by total score. Its over.
Yesterday, we played pure match play in pro. We did Skins for Ams because their player count wasn't divisible by 4. Now lets be crystal clear about what we'll do going forward: We will play Match play through Wednesday November 17th; if we can't swizzle the pro/am player counts to get a # divisible by 4 (required for Match play) then we'll fall back to Skins for one or both divisions. Total score will be meaningless. After November 17th, we'll probably start playing pure Skins for some amount of time. Format and how long, though, are open to discussion. Everyone's input is important here, and it counts. Another option is a straight singles league. Let's make it our goal to decide by the time Teams is over, what format to play after that. We've got the time to mull over the options. Perhaps a vote when we're all at teams? Personally i think we'll have time to do both a Skins league, and a singles league, between the end of teams and the start of daylight savings time. I think there's around 20 wednesdays in there. From now till daylight savings time kicks in again in the spring, we'll do our best to make it so that after the round, we grill and powl. That's a turnout-wide effort there to bring together food and baskets. So far we are 2 for 2. ![]() Another thing I'd like to do is get some sort of powling LEAGUE set up that spans, say, 10 weeks (or perhaps.....the entire powling season), with a championship at the end. THAT would be cool. I've got this week's statistics saved, but to be fair, we should probably start next week. Anyone interested in that? And one more thing, where the h*ll was JD last night??? heh Last edited by johne; Oct 21 2010 at 11:34 AM. |

Oh and a big thanks to Abel for stepping up with all that food he brought. THAT's an example of what it takes to make the after round fun be that much better.
![]() And Martin......i stuck that big pack of jumbo hotdogs that you left in my ice chest, in my freezer.......i'll have it next Wednesday. |
