Default 2009 Disc Golf Hall of Fame Classic May 30-31st PDGA A-Tier

The Disc Golf Hall of Fame Classic will be contested at the International Disc Golf Center in Appling, GA. The weekend will include the Grand Opening of the Jim Warner Course sponsored by Discraft. Some of the extras for this tournament are amazing, AM US Doubles qualifier, Saturday Night Players Barbecue at IDGC, Silent Auction, and Hall of Famer Hospitality Area. Plus the amenities of the IDGC, immediate unofficial round ratings, climate controlled building, fully stocked pro shop, museum, hall of fame, and more...........Hope to see you out here!

We will be using a 3 round format with a final 9, although the course schedule for the weekend has not been decided upon yet everyone will play the new course. I may try to have everyone play all three courses, but with the lack of short tee pads on the WR Jackson course this may be difficult.

We are offering all divisions at this point, but would like to have at least 3 entry's per division.

Registration is now up at http://www.pdgasignup.com/Qstore/Qst...ROD=1234535416
You can also send a check (payable to IDGC), pdga#, email, and telephone number to:
IDGC
3828 Dogwood Ln.
Appling, GA. 30802

Due to the size of our facility the likely hood of the event selling out is slim but we are encouraging pre registration, for our planning purposes.

Current Registration: http://www.pdga.com/tournament-results?TournID=8592

Lodging/Camping: Camping is highly recommend and very close by the courses, http://209.247.187.110/index.aspx?page=2680, or call 706-541-0586 they have an entire area reserved. Make sure you mention the disc golf tournament and they will put you in the reserved area, which is located steps from hole 6 of the Jim Warner.
Host Hotel: WINGATE by Wyndham at 4087 Jimmy Dyess Parkway, this location is at I20 and Belair rd. approx 15 minutes from IDGC.
You can follow booking instructions for Wyndham hotels on the back of your PDGA Membership card.

Sponsorship discs are available: KC Roc with the HoF Classic stamp signed by all HoF members in attendance, $25. (contact me for more details)

For more information contact Jason Allind: 706-261-6342 or Jallind at pdga.com

Default Re: 2009 Disc Golf Hall of Fame Classic May 30-31st PDGA A-Tier

Registration is well under way at this point and our camping section is starting to fill!!!!

I have been working on the format/schedule of events for the weekend, it looks like i am going to go with 3 pools which means 3 courses going on at once!!! The schedule should be released by early next week, in case anyone wants to change divisions to play different courses Right now i have it worked out that every pool will play the "new" Jim Warner course, and the "B" pool will be the only one to play all 3 courses, which means "A" pool doesn't play Ed and "C" pool doesn't play Jackson. (let the whining commence)

Tentatively:

A- MPO, FPO, MPM???
B- MPG, MA1, MM1, MG1?????
C- MS1, MA2, MA3, FW1-3, JR.

Last Call for camping spots in our disc golfer section, I just spoke with the county and we are down to having 2 open sites. There are very limited sites in other sections of the park for this weekend and they may all be full by weeks end.

Otherwise there is space available at the Wingate host hotel.

Thanks!

Default Salivating

I can't wait to check out these courses! One drawback of living in SoCal is the near absence of tall, thick barky things with leaves....oh yeah, TREES! Looking at the pictures at the IDGC website has me salivating. Par 4 Golf...Yummy Yummy Yummy!!!

As of now i just have what was listed above, i am waiting on last minute entries at this point and may drop it down to 2 pools. I haven't had much time to work on this as the courses have been growing like crazy. Also doing teepads and teesigns on the new course still........

The lake is almost at full pool, the highest i have seen it in the 2 years i've been here, yay rain!!!

I know we are having dubs on friday night, followed by a barbeque at IDGC sponsored by the Atlanta Disc Golf Organization. Saturday Night after the rounds will be another Barbeque sponsored by Columbia County. We will also be having a silent auction in the building all day on saturday!

Can't beat getting fed twice!!!!!!

stay tuned for more info in the next week or so, back to the tractor and mowing!

This is one of the only tourneys I look forward to every time it comes around. The courses at the IDGC are some of the best I have ever played and certainly some of the most enjoyable to play! I cant wait to tee off!

Jason or anyone else who may know.....
Is there an online map of the new Warner course? I cant find any maps of the courses although I am lucky to have already saved the Ed and the Jackson maps from a few years ago. Does one exist for the Warner course?

Huh i just went looking for the other maps and they aren't there, something must have gotten off in the conversion over to the new site.

The warner map that i have is really rough and i am hoping to have a new one for the tournament with the short pads listed and all the correct distances. I wanted to wait for the tee pads to be done which happened this week, and i think we have all the distances shot and rough map drawn up. I got a little deterred on wednesday with having to back fill all the pads and then getting injured but should have something soon.

I also have the schedule complete and on my computer at work, this will 100% be posted on tuesday.

Things that we know for sure are that the player's meeting will be at 9am and check in will be Friday 9-6 and Saturday starting at 8am.

The pools has been difficult i almost announced stuff yesterday but i am glad i didn't as we got 17 entries over night. I can guarantee you will play at least 2 out of the 3 courses, and everyone will play the Warner. The lower pool will not play the Jackson course, so thats about all i can give right now until i get closer to final numbers.

Everyone is having a blast! The weather has been awesome. with Hall of Famers Patti Kunkle, Fred Salaz, Snapper Pierson, Dave Greenwell, Alan Beaver, and Carlton Howard in attendance, we celebrated the unveiling of Ed Headrick's bronze bust sculpture at the IDGC Museum. Who more appropriate than his widow, Farina Headrick and Josh from DGA to tell the stories of Ed's passion for disc golf?

The Jim Warner Memorial Discraft course has received great reviews. Jim's family and Atlanta boys were present to cut the ribbon. The family presented EVERYONE with a disc golf bag to show their appreciation. Nice!

Last night's barbeque was a hit as the players are being treated to a fantastic silent auction. Thanks to Hall of Famers the Voakes, Dave Dunipace, Jim Palmeri, the Ginnelly's and others for their donations, especially Tim Selinski and Dave Dunipace from Innova! Red first Run CE TL's, FL's, Valkerie"s! People are still calling from out of town to place their bids for those!

Gotta run to catch more of the action! Thanks to everyone from Augusta and the PDGA!

What a great weekend of golf! This tournament is well worth the cross country trip, and I sincerely hope I can make it back in two years. The opening ceremony for the Warner course was very moving, as was the unveiling of the Steady Ed bust. Although I did not get to play the Steady Ed course, I hear it is fun and scenic as well as challenging. The Jackson course is now one of my top favorites, and can best be appreciated by 1000+ rated players with big arms and precise control. Power, control, and smart course management are a must on the front nine, while the back contains several finesse holes that can be aced (or sixed!). The Warner course is also very demanding and challenging. I wish I had arrived a week earlier for more practice; these courses require strategy and execution.

Once I found out that Stan McDaniel and Johnny Sias were not making the trip I opted to jump up to Open to watch how the "youngsters" attacked the course. It was well worth the price of admission watching Schwebbie work some magic in the woods and getting a lesson in how to close out a round. Now if I could only find another 40 feet on my drives!

Mucho thanks to Jason, Brian and the crew for all of their work on the courses and the tournament. I can't wait to get back! These were some of the best courses I have played, and the opportunity to return every other year for another crack at them make me wish I was 20 again! Cheers, DD
