That's weird because I have a blue Tulsa SB orc (175g) that flips over for me... I use it as my max D hyzer flip disc.

I have some original run Champion Orcs that are the straightest for me. (the 175 DayGlo ones)

I know it shouldn't probably make a difference but the one that was stable for me has a 3rd? run stamp with only the small bird on top (quetzal?). My first blue SB orc with the first run stamp that looked like the Pro Orc stamp I actually lost because it flipped over deep into some wooded area (it was significantly lighter though)

Please use the new thread! It will be easier on everybody and there is already a precedent of starting a new thread every few years because this is the most frequented thread in disc golf and some of us have dial-up

Hey Dave what's your take on the new molded Ontario Roc's for fundraising? Flight and take on the mold?
Thx,

The new Ontario USDGC Rocs are candy colored. There are relatively few of them. Probably around 500 total in various colors. Mostly at 180 g. These are stiff and grippy. They are high speed stable yet not too overstable at low speeds. They fly more like a big bead, than a Rancho. I like them better than any other USDGC Roc. Good news is that there are about 100 X outs for throwing fans.

The Teebird is done with....I would also like to add a reputable Colombian Druglord recently announced the "discontinuation of Cocaine in rock form, aka Crack". The druglord continued "Crack has preyed disproportionally on the poor and minoritie communities, and this was never intended". Efforts by the major cartels will now focus on newer, more expensive cocaine analogs targeting more "white collar users".

I saw the Star Kite released as a fundraiser, is it coming in the regular Star-line-up also?

Dave, is it a small, or large (Cobra/Stingray) diameter?

"Kites are raptors with long wings and weak legs which spend a great deal of time soaring. In general they will take live prey but mostly feed on carrion."
Is this the meaning of kite that you had in mind when choosing the name, or were you referring to the flying object that made Ben Franklin famous? Is this disc intended to fill the small hole between Stingray and Cobra? What do the initial flight tests look like?

I assume 175g max would put it at small diameter.

Cobra/Stingray are 21.7cm. Kite is 21.2cm.

Yes to both kite references, especially the soaring gliding part. It feeds on birdies, dead or alive.

It does fit between a Cobra and Stingray, but is a smaller, quicker disc. My impression was of a San Mario Cobra high speed turn and a Stingray or better low fade finish. Just about the same carry with a little more speed and range.
The high speed turn depends on speed and throwing style. Like many other discs, nose down throws will turn much more easily than nose up. Therefore, experienced players will be able to turn the Kite much more easily than beginners.

How would you compare STAR Kite to the beadless STAR Gremlin? Quite a bit more hi-speed understable & less lo-speed overstable? Glide-ier?

Dave,
What disc(s) would you compare the profile of the Kite to? I imagine that shape-wise it is more similar to the Goblin and Coyote(convex wing, beadless) than a Roc or Cobra.

The Star Kite is more high speed unstable, glidier, similar speed, less low speed overstability.

Sounds interesting to me, too. Me likey the small-diameter mid (reference my avatar). I'll have to get ahold of Mark Molnar . . .

Sounds like a beat Roc right out of the box.

Dave will team members get a taste of the Kite anytime soon?

Might be something like a beat up Ontario Roc, but not a Cucamonga. It's domier and has more carry than either.

The team should be seeing some soon.
