Yeppers. Midranges are more accurate. Still fun trying to throw a putter 400 feet.

Dave,
With the onset of the star line do you see the pro plastic becoming discontinued? Also what is the difference between the new dx and the old dx? Is it just more durable or is it a new blend?

If that happens i will throw all of my innova out and switch to a different company all together. i doubt it will though cause the star and pro plastic fly very differnt from each other. if anything would be replaced i think it would be the champion line.

I don't think any will be replaced, but if one is I think it would be the pro plastic. I think they already discontinued several of the Pro Line discs already.

I agree with this statement. I think it is unlikely that Innova will discontinue any line as a whole, but will continue to stop making certain discs in certain lines. For example, the Aviar has a million and a half different versions in all the lines, but considering its popularity, Innova would probaly not discontinue any lines that they are currently making a version of the Aviar. The KC Pro and JK Pro Aviars seem to be more popular than the Pro aviar, so maybe just the Pro Aviar would be discontinued but not all the Pro line discs. On the other hand, some discs dont need to be made in all the different lines. The Stingray used to be made in Champion but was discontinued in that plastic and made in Star now. This disc doesnt need to be made in Champion, but the whole line would not be discontinued since the Orc, and Eagle are not made in Star yet.

I think the champion line is still the best also. I'm not sold that the star line will hold up. Mine seem to be holding up for now. But their still fairly new.

Knob Hill is a sick course. Played it a few times this summer when visiting family. Go STEELERS.

Tee Birds and Valkyries seem outdated now...though they're the only discs to ever exceed 800'! Dave, what newer Innova discs offer the greatest Big-D potential for a new World Record?
It's going to be tough for any disc to beat the current record, but that being said, there is no reason to think that the Valkyrie and TeeBird couldn't do it. My personal opinion is for lighter weight discs in the high 150s. For the heavier discs; the Pro Wraith and Pro Starfire have a lot of potential in high 165 - 170 gms. My longest golf throws, (not distance throws) have been with light weight DX Wraiths down wind thrown hyzer flip. The advantage of a TeeBird type disc for distance is you can expect 4 out of 5 of your discs to go where you want them to, in order to take advantage of the wind. Any disc with a turn, or a large return, cuts down your odds of a successful flight. But, you really only need one successful flight out of five.

Hey Dave not to keep asking the same question over again but a few weeks ago you were going to run star Rhynos did that happen or are u still waitin?
The Rhyno is currently in production. We will run at least a tournament sized batch of Stars.
Dave, where are the STAR Rhynos?
Star Rhynos probably will go to CFR, as we don't have time to run more, but are coming up.

I agree with all of these last statements. The Tee-bird rocks. The Teebird, TL, Wraith, and Tee Rex are all great disc, but they all come out for different purposes. That 400 ft marker is a good indicator as to which disc I'll use. If your trying to reach a greater distance, like the boy scout seems to be, then the Tee Rex or Wraith can get you there. Regardless of how far you can throw, there should still be a spot in your bag for your Teebird and or TL.
Oh.. and Dave,
I've been throwing some star plastic and it feels good and throws well. I haven't formed an opinion on its durability yet. How do you compare the life span of Star plastic to Champion? Also, do you have any plans for a Champion TeeRex?
I think the lifespan of Star vs Champion is about the same, but with some models I might give the nod to Champion. We will run Champion TeeRex at some point, but we are behind in the molding schedule and will have to run DX TeeRex first.

Dave, a faster goblin? That sounds so sweet! I would love to test out some of those bad boys! I love the goblin and still have not decided whether or not it will replace either aviars or coyotes. I know the aviar will stay, but how is the goblin doing in sales? I would hate to see it go the way of the bulldog, my favorite windy day putter.
No worries, the Goblin is doing well as both a putter and approach disc. I am hoping the new longer version will have the same stable character with more speed. I was a little disappointed with the range of the Goblin. It seems to top out around 300 - 330 ft for practical range.

Hey Dave,

I heard a rumor that you guys maybe re-designing the Discatcher Pro Basket ? Is this just a rumor ?
I think it's OK the way it is.
Something about a thinner band on top and chain configuration ?
Just a rumour. The only other configuration I would consider at this time would be the "Hat" type we use for the Sport model.

Good idea! I just matched a course record using only 2 KC Aviars. It is a neighborhood course, short nine holer. I definately pumped a couple over 320 (very light wind), which I have not even tried in a year or 2. Great practice!!!
Another good training method is to use very light weight discs. Not only will they allow you to get a quicker rhythm, but they will unveil other technique problems for you to correct. Once you have mastered light discs, you can move up 5 or so grams at a time, as long as you keep your quickness. This is most useful for long range drivers rather than putters or approach discs. Grip issues and quickness are often weight related, and show up much more noticeably when trying to throw far.

We will continue any Pro model that has sufficient popularity. Other Pro models may be phased out over time. The following will continue to be made for the time being: KC and JK Pro Aviar, KC Roc, Pro Rhyno, Pro Starfire, and Pro Wraith. We still have Pro Valkyries, Firebirds, Leopards, and Beasts that need to prove themselves.

The new DX is a new blend and is more durable.

Heck yes it is! Just got done proving it to a friend with a DX Goblin and hit 7 trees, the road twice, and a stone wall and it did not bend out of shape (if it did, it was not to the point that it would be spotted easily), nor did it take out any gouges or make dents. The thing flies the same and still has a smooth feel around the edge.

IMO, the Star plastic is too expensive.

For my game, as one who doesn't throw very far, the Proline Orc was the best driver ever made.
