Tee Birds and Valkyries seem outdated now...though they're the only discs to ever exceed 800'! Dave, what newer Innova discs offer the greatest Big-D potential for a new World Record?

Yep, DX TeeRex. They are sweet!
I agree with DSProAviar; NO WAY are Teebirds outdated. Still my go-to driver. |

I retired my teebirds when the tee-rex hit the market. Why have a slower version of a disc when the faster version is just as accurate if not more? Hit a 150 foot side arm skip shot for bird yesterday with my tee-rex. This is a shot that my teebird would have just stuck on the ground. I dunno if its mental or not, but my sidearm game is much more accurate with the tee-rex.

My TRX and TB have a very similar line when thrown with similar angle and speed/spin. But the TRX goes alot farther. I've tried backing off the TRX when throwing 400 (straight shot) and the TB is waay more accurate at 400 (straight shot) because I don't have to back off on it. For anything over 410, I would use the TRX. Basically, for me, the 2 discs have the same line, but the TRX goes alot farther and is less controllable at slower speeds.
edit: I do throw my TRX alot on holes under 400, but only if I want the big high hyzer line. And I would still use a full throw.

I agree with all of these last statements. The Tee-bird rocks. The Teebird, TL, Wraith, and Tee Rex are all great disc, but they all come out for different purposes. That 400 ft marker is a good indicator as to which disc I'll use. If your trying to reach a greater distance, like the boy scout seems to be, then the Tee Rex or Wraith can get you there. Regardless of how far you can throw, there should still be a spot in your bag for your Teebird and or TL.
Oh.. and Dave, I've been throwing some star plastic and it feels good and throws well. I haven't formed an opinion on its durability yet. How do you compare the life span of Star plastic to Champion? Also, do you have any plans for a Champion TeeRex?

I throw Teebirds, wraiths, and Teerexes. At my home course I used to have to throw Wraiths to reach most of the holes, when the teerex came out I was trowing that to reach some with a straight/hyser shot. Lately I have been reaching for the Teebird more and more. There is just way less varience it what my Teebirds will do. I agree with everyone who says the Teebird is the best driver ever and I hope to be carring them for a long time.

There is no doubt that the T-Bird is far from outdated. I can get a T-Bird to hold a straighter line for more distance than any disc I have. Once it does tail off it does not skip half a mile either, unlike an Orc. I have not thrown my T-Rex long enough to say how it holds a stright line, but I cannot see it being the same as a T-Bird from the few times I have thrown it.

the beauty of a slower disc is that if your a few degrees off on your line it doesn't speed off target as fast nor as far... as for best distance disc i wonder if the DX Orc or or DX SL has the best chance to beat the Valkyrie? seems to me like the DX TeeRex and DX Starfire and DX Wraith -- while great, consistent Distance discs -- aren't understable enough to maximize tailwinds and flirt with world record distance... of course the more overstable stuff is a lot more forgiving if you are heavy on power and light on technique... |

As for teebirds, sure its a great disc, I just see more accuracy, reguardless of the situation, distance, or speed from my tee-rex. Could be I control a larger rim disc better? Dave, a faster goblin? That sounds so sweet! I would love to test out some of those bad boys! I love the goblin and still have not decided whether or not it will replace either aviars or coyotes. I know the aviar will stay, but how is the goblin doing in sales? I would hate to see it go the way of the bulldog, my favorite windy day putter. |

Hey Dave,
I heard a rumor that you guys maybe re-designing the Discatcher Pro Basket ? Is this just a rumor ? I think it's OK the way it is. Something about a thinner band on top and chain configuration ? |

Hey AviarX, I would be inclined to agree with you the more I think about it, but just cannot get past the simple fact that I have more "feel" or "touch" when using a wider rimmed disc. I can put a smaller rimmed disc on the same line and flight path as a wide rimmed disc. Wraith .vs. Viking - Wraith has about 60 feet on the viking. Only other difference, The wraith will hold a line I want for as long as I want. Sometimes the Viking just does not want to hold that same line. Same thing with making the disc skip. Wraith I have no problem, Viking does not like to always do it. So, can I simply perform more actions with the wider rimmed disc that do what I want, or am I asking too much of the smaller rimmed discs? Anyway, Im leaving this message more confused than when I started to post. |

that may just be the magic of the Wraith. do you have the same control advantage with other big-rimmed discs?
also, do you find you can control an Aviar or Coyote even better. if not, you might want to try playing a few rounds with just midranges and putters and see if it helps your game. okay back to you regular programmed Dave D disc and throwing expertise (i'm not an expert, but sometimes i catch myself playing one on the DB) ...
