also, i'm not really serious, but -- did you consider having fine print that reads "L" = Less stable, not Leopard bottom?

Hey Dave,
Question about the Star FL's?? Terry Miller is running 2007 Am Worlds in Milwaukee Wi, so I was wondering, would it be possiable to have the Star Firebird as a Fundrasier for 2007?? Just a thought, the Tulsa Fundraiser is doing GREAT, and I hope Milwaukee can do the same!!!

Rob, I think we are going to keep the Pro the same. IE Pro Starfire even though it is the L mold.

Zac, it is possible. Don't know how likely. I am very happy with how the fundraisers have worked with Tulsa and Augusta though.

Hope they weren't a dealer. Because $10.99 is lower than the set minimal price by Innova. They're not to sell them lower than that I believe.

why would that be a problem??.they are just not making any money, they are making money of the sales of what the golfers buy other than discs. i am pretty sure MSRP is a suggested retail price

Innova and Discraft sell these discs for what they want(making the $$$ that they want off of the discs), which gives the purchasers of these discs the option to sell for whatever they want. God Bless the USA!

I don't frequent this thread nor do I have discs in mind that I want to beg Dave for but since someone pointed this post out to me I figured I'd pipe in regarding this specific post. (Rumors and posts like this is exactly why I hate message boards)
Zac, All major manufacturers have typically been pretty gracious to the various Worlds Projects. I'm guessing that Innova, Discraft, DGA, Etc will be the same for 2007. I know you asked me about the idea of a fund-raiser disc and I'm certainly all for it. However, you are not on the immediate staff of the Worlds so I think it is VERY premmature for you to be asking about a disc of YOUR choice as a fundraiser. What if Innova offers the hottest selling disc on the planet at the time we start Worlds fundraising? Then would the rest of the world really want a Firebird Star FL? I'm just asking that you be patient and let the cards fall as they may. I do appreciate your interest in making Worlds successful but we have to take one step at a time here. Quote:

Dave,
Have you ever tried to run a firebird or monster in a mini mold? The avair mini is awsome but i flip it over alot when i really try to rip one It would be nice to have a mini to throw overhand and trick shots with + would make a sweet stocking stuffer ho ho ho

erroneous, we have thought about a driver type mini, but didn't think the cost of the tooling would be justified by the demand. It might be cool however, to be able to throw a mini over 300 ft.

Driver mold minis would be sweet. I heard another company is talking about it as well. You can throw overheads w/ Champion Avair Minis. I get the most distance that way. It takes a little practice.

how many would you need to sell in order to make it worth Innova's while? How many presales would it take?
I've been dreaming of a mini-firebird or something over-stable for a long time. MK |

Mini Disc Golf Federation
I've been told that some of these guys can already throw currently existing minis over 300 feet. I'm sure they would certainly be interested in a new driver mold mini. |

Every time I get a new kind of mini from Discraft or Innova everyone wants one. Minis are like dyed discs: it makes no sense but players want them. A driver mold mini would sell like tiny hotcakes.

Dave,
I finally got to feel the Star plastic for the first time today, and now I see what the hype is all about. Not sure if this has been asked before, but is there any chance of a Star Roc being on the slate, or would that be more likely to go as a fundraiser disc?

I believe the star roc has aready been produced as this year's Champion Roc, which is a fundraiser for the USDGC. The special blend plastic is the same as star.

Both type Rocs were produced for USDGC. The Special Blend (Star) were done in Ontario style.

OK!!
I got my Star teebirds today... Dave... is it safe for me to say that these are not the same plastic as Special Blend Orcs or Rocs from '05???? This seems to be the order of plastic for me: Nighshift orcs: Most grippy, most opaque, and most Stiff Special Blend orcs/rocs: Little slicker.. A little more Opaque.. STill like champion plastic stiffness.. STar teebirds: NOTHING LIKE the other 2.. Slick look but grippy, SOFT LIKE pro.. and the most Translucent... Could you justify this for me? -Scott Lewis |

Its not that big a deal to throw em far. We had a mini league here for awhile, using the DGA Mini baskets that a local TD used as 1st Place Tropheys, and Chings and homemades to cover the rest. We traveled to other parks in the cities, set up temp courses and went to town. It appealed to alot of people, though some were unsure what we doing and thought it was actual disc golf. Driving is pretty easy, putting is alot more difficult. IMO, the Champion Aviar is by far the best mini out. They work great for any shot, including overheads and rollers. The small Little Flyers are like throwing Champion Whippets. Ive seen alot of people have luck with the Champion Aero...upsidedown.

anyone else notice that the White Star discs feel and look just like Pro plastic?? the blue, yellow, and red so far feel all the same and are very grippy, but the white max weight STB i have is very slick and Pro plastic like... HOpe that it gets grippy and holds up like the others..
I'll have a field report after this weekend. -Scott Lewis |
