regardless of our fixation on grammar and spelling, it is not an invalid point. just because a mold is approved, doesnt mean the manufacturer can just go out and pull anything out of it they want and its magically approved. you cant approve a mold using plastic then say, hey its an approved mold, i can make metal forces now and they are also approved, because the mold is. same thing with weight and flexibility. that has nothing to do with the mold, it has to do with the discs after production. and i have also heard the cam's would not pass the test most of the time, so that is probably why they arent mass marketed.

so,... moving on

does anyone know the current situation of the zone?

i know there were esp prototypes made and sold at worlds, also esp full colors in players packs, when can we hope to see full production of esp zones in stores?

Kenner was asked earlier this year when he was attending the one disc challenge in Ann Arbor, if Discraft would put out a CT challenger like disc ever again.

He stated that a majority of the Cam Todds already out there would probably fail the flexibility test. And he said that they could no longer produce something as stiff as the CT for that reason. They'd never get approval.
The challengers that Discraft were selling at worlds were pretty close. But I'm guessing the difference in feel might be due to different plastic they used to pass flexibility.
Kenner doesn't want to make stiff Challengers...So I use stiff Warlocks. Brand loyalty is overrated. Vote with your money and buy what you like. If demand in the form of $$ communicates the need for stiff discs, stiff discs will be produced.

I used to feel the same way. I throw my drone for everything! But then, I got an esp Zone. Just imagine a drone that feels like Buzzz but goes straight longer before its hard left turn. MONEY!!!! You should try one!

isn't that what a wasp is supposed to do? ... where does the wasp fit in then... between the zone and the buzzz?

Thats what I was thinking... thats what my wasp does currently. Plus I have a FLX drone that has a ton of rounds on it and will fly fairly straight before cutting hard. I just spent a lot of time tracking down enough drones to survive a nuclear war so I will stick with them for a while

Zones are more overstable and slower than Wasps IMO.

and smaller diameter i think, they just feel alot more comfortable to me, i like the challenger off the tee when i can reach, so the zone adds some stability, distance, and confidence to that throw.

i never found the wasp to be that consistent or stable, i know people say try the Z, but i prefer d or esp.

its also very comfortable to forehand for approaches and short drives.

plus if you are ever putting in bowling green ky or ada OH, youd be happy to have one .

Default Zones

I am having some difficulty deciding if I want to carry the Z Wasp or D Zone in my bag. The flights are similar in shape, but not in path. The Wasp has tons more glide, but the Zone is like throwing a dart. Maybe my solution is Zone for windy days, Wasp for calm ones. Or maybe I just need to work on my hyzer release with the Wasp. I like both, but have not had the opp. to throw an ESP Zone. KP

About a year ago I bought an X Comet which I really enjoy and am now looking for a version which will maintain its stability a little longer. I tried a Z Comet and found it to be a totally different disc. For one thing, the Z Comet is just bigger. The diameter must be multiple millimeters more and is "taller" when lying flat. As far as flight goes, the Z Comet was a lot slower. I'm sure the Z comet is a great disc, but it isn't a replacement for the disc I have. Three questions:
1. Are these discs really different molds?
2. Is the ESP comet like the faster low-profile X-comet (or like Z)
3. Same question about the D comet (though I know it won't last longer.)

1. The molds are the same. Plastics all shrink when they cool, and the chemical composition of the different plastics causes some plastics to shrink much more than others. Moisture in the plastic, humidity in the factory, and cooling rates all complicate things further. This is how 2 discs can come out of the same mold and feel totally different.

2. The ESP feel closer to the X than the Z, but are still probably between the 2.

3. I'm not sure I've seen a D comet, at least not in a long time.

Back to Zones... I have a stack of D-Zones that I've hand picked to get the flatest possible. I'd really lik eto get the ESP version (so far only the supercolor Worlds disc?) But the only one's I've seen have been very domey. Has anyone seen flat ESP Zones?

They had non-incolor ESP Zones at the Worlds flymart. They looked about as domey as the full color ones did though.

Ask thezac about them, we bought him a couple and brought them back for him. I haven't thrown one so I don't know how they fly.

i didnt throw the esp (non fullcolor) yet because i do like the feel of the d and i dont want to get hooked on the esp and not be able to replace it. i just got my hands on a 2nd full color zone from worlds, the first one i received was nice and FLAT, like the d, and the new one is domey as shiz. im sure ill end up throwing one or another. ill let you know

Anyone that has a flat top ESP zone (or two) interested in trading it/them off? I've got a fat trade stack.

Default Discraft @ USDGC?

Just curious if the USDGC pro shop carries DC product? If someone loses their Buzzz, do they have to meet the D-Dealer behind the fieldhouse, down a dark scary alley or some shenanigans like that?

I wish... and from being just about everywhere for the last few USDGCs I've never seen any discraft (or other) selling discs @ the tourney. I'm sure its out of respect which is cool and i'm also sure if one of the sponsored discraft players loses/needs something they can get it (but who knows)

The Zone is money, I used it for the first time in a round the other day and on the first two throws I hit pole from 220'. It flies like a Z Wasp but doesnt feel like a big beaded plate. Keep em coming Discraft. Oh, and who doesnt like a soft Challenger? My flex is grippy and sticks to chains!!!

The people who depend on their Buzzz always know where to get more .

Any thoughts / plans of producing a FLX Force and / or a very understable midrange in FLX plastic?
