Guess I'll have to try out a meteor.......based on the description "an understable comet" I thought it would be too touchy/flippy. I have an esp comet that is just too easy to flip.
The Comet comparison is not very accurate. Its like comparing a Hawk to a Buzzz. Meteor flies much more "modern". That is it is quick, has great carry (the only characteristic comparable to a Comet), and it grips very easy. It is very easy to keep straight under 300'. Throw it harder and there will be some predictable flip, but like a beat Roc or a Buzz, once it hits flat from hyzer it holds it. It holds its altitude better than a buzz without stalling, so this gives it more forward penetration on an anhyzer than a Buzz. It flies great on soft hyzers with some touch.

When I first put the Meteor in the bag it was just for anhyzers, but the more I learn my "touch" with this disc, the more I want to throw it. Buzzes are getting jealous...

do you know if discraft plans on making the ss buzz (08 am nats version) a regular production disc?????......this baby is so money for turnover approachs or hyzer flip to flat-straight shots.......wondering if I should stock up now while they are still available
I asked that question many times with a less than enthusiastic response. Then, as the post above asks you, I tried a Meteor. Actually, I tried several. I found a flat heavy one that is money. This disc is undoubtably better than the Buzz SS...it stays in the air better and is more predictable/wind resistant. The Meteor has even taken a little work away from my Z Buzz as it is better for perfectly straight lines with no fade.
That is the truth since Emac turned me onto the Meteor its been money ever since
I don't even throw a buzz ... I throw meteors and Gators (hopefully the esp drone fixes that ). The metoris is SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET

So, any more reports on this disc? I'm kinda chomping at the bit for this one. I think it will fill the gap between the Drone and Buzzz that I throw (don't like Wasp, won't throw a D Zone, and Torq are too rare). I'm hearing a stability rating of 1.0 or more, almost wasp like. But I'd like to know how much smaller diameter this is compared to a Buzzz because I like the small overstable mids.

The ESP Wasp is nice. Make sure they have a dome and are not flat.

Yep I love domey ESP Wasps... I have a stack of them at home. The flat top ones are too unpredictable but the domey ones work out quite nice. I quit throwing a buzzz and now just use FLX Drones, ESP Wasps, and ESP Comets as my mid range lineup.

I'm intrigued to see the ace race disc though... in flight pattern it sounds like an ESP Zone but I hear they are shaped completely different. The ESP Zone protos they were selling at Worlds are money though. I bought a few for a friend and he loves them.

Torq (or Torque) = DGA Shockwave

I picked up a shockwave and thought it flew horribly an was unimpressed. It had a large dome but it fluttered the whole way down the fairway.

I don't like the huge bead on the wasp, I have ESP and Z wasps and prefer the feel of the buzzz or drone much more. I wish I did because I think esp plastic is a marketing gimmick to get people to buy more becuase it beats up so easily. My Z wasp is from 5 years ago and has no dings. The esp was is from last year and has a ton of dings and scrapes. The void in my bag is for a Z Torq (or similar), right now it is filled by a Champion Shark but the one have glides forever and I really have to hold back on it, which makes it fade much more.

I've yet to see ESP Zones available at retailers. Any line on when they should be out for purchase? (Other than ebay?)

Depends on what you want it for! They aren't even close to the same so if you are trying to replace one with the other you won't have much luck.

I like the Zone because it is consistently overstable but easy to throw. I also like it for uphill putts.

Hey has anyone heard of an XL-2?

I bought one this weekend from Eric Tracey and he said he got it from Ron Russel a while back. Anyway it may just be a Proto X2 but it says "Proto XL-2"

no more luv for the Buzzz? the x comet and mags doing that role for you?

never heard of the XL-2, maybe Hero could fill us in, I'd be intrested. I know my Rocket X2s fly a lot less stable than the other X2s, I could see them being called XL2s, or maybe it was just a test that didn't work out.

Shart! I thought I ordered an ESP drone and just realized it is an ESP Zone

Hero has been quiet lately...Are you out there John? Trying not to offend the moderators during your probation ?

Anyway, I just want to throw a plea at Discraft...Please make Z plastic like it used to be. I'm running out of old Z Preds. They are all stiff and domey and probably bulletproof. The new ones are all flx-ey and I could probably stab through the flight plate with a screwdriver (or the plastic would wrap around it like a condom, I'm not sure). Anyone else tired of the gummy trend? I say keep Z stiff and durable and charge more $$. I would pay it to keep quality up.

I actually prefer the ESP Preds over the Z's. I guess it is just a matter of opinion. In fact most of my drivers are ESP and quite consistant...

I like ESP for what it is--a softer, grippier plastic that breaks in evenly over a decent amount of time. I would like most my discs in that type of plastic. However, when it comes to my overstable disc I want it to be indestructable. I throw thumbers and spikes near pavement that beat ESP in too fast, and the ESP Pred is less overstable to begin with. Also, when my Z pred comes down off a spike or thumber it often cleaves the earth instead of bouncing or rolling.

I only have a few of the hard Z preds left as well... I don't really like throwing tye-dye discs (too hard to find in the shule) but that plastic they use for the factory dyed ones is a lot harder than the new Z plastic. Its almost as hard as my 4 yr old Z Pred that still looks like brand new.

I think the dye process has something to do with the plastic being stiff.

Hopefully some will "trickle" on down here to FL. Our retailers don't sell enough older Discraft and don't order often enough to always get the good runs. I hope I don't miss this one. In the past Discraft has always made a variety of feels in all their molds for personal preferences, so hopefully that will continue.

I have some older Z-Preds and some of the new ones. They are reddish/ pink and AO got them for me at the factory. They are slightly less stable, and bomb, from what Ive seen. Let me know if your in need.
