the only thing i would ask is to make the main picture on the home page a picture actually of the castle and maybe someone with a little better form. Other than that the changes look good.

I'm announcing the (soft) launch of the 2010 United States Women's Disc Golf Championships website. In the next couple of months there will be more functionality and info regarding the event.

If any of you guys would like to volunteer for the event contact Scott Knapp, the TD, at td@uswdgc.com.

Click here or the image above to check out the site!

Wink Rating update

Hmm. Looks like I went up a little bit since the last rating update.

+26 points??

That seems a little extreme. What's the max for rec division again?

You played 920 golf in Kinston and that event is double weighted so that explains it.

The Deacon's dad passed away recently and he is Iowa bound. Keep him and the Crouch family in your thoughts.

Default Kure in the PDGA Newsletter

Interesting articles in today's PDGA Newsletter if you haven't already read it. Amongst the three North Carolina articles is: New disc golf course to help with yard waste. The entire article is linked back to Wilmington's WECT news site and mentions a 14-hole course that will host National tournaments in the Spring and Fall to put people in area hotels. Interesting, eh?

Default 2010 Ace Race

Just a quick note out to everyone that we need to get the registrations in for the Ace Race. The clock is winding down and we have to pre-order all the packs so if you are going to play, you need to register. The Paypal link has been updated so it should be working for everyone now. Go to: http://www.corningdiscleague.com to get in and register.
Details: August 7th at 8 a.m. at the Castle Hayne Park. Two rounds of one shot do or die. Points will be given for any metal hit (1) Chains (3) Ace (5). Winner will be the one with most total accumulated points at the end of both rounds. Alt tee's and pins will be on every hole enabling a better chance at nailing the pin.

Please feel free to email me at jamruh@gmail.com with any questions or issues with registration. Thanks.

From the DGRus site:
2010 Ace Race disc: The 2010 Ace Race prototype is a fast, overstable midrange. It has good speed for a mid, longer glide than you'll expect, and a medium strong
finish. When you turn it over it will always come back unless you
really torque it. Will hold a line in a moderate to strong headwind.
We are looking forward to hearing the chains you ring with it!

check out the link. the thread is in the courses section of this discussion board. Mr. Vince Whorley played out course while in the area and had a few goods things to say. great review and coming from Vince it realy meant alot. i am stoked he took the time to give us such props. i am so proud of the hard work that the Core of the New Hanover Disc Golf Club puts into that course. makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

I just put what humble photos I shot of the Ace Race up on our club's website. While I was at it, I updated the photo slideshow to support galleries.

All this and more found only on your favorite disc golf club's website, newhanoverdgc.com!

I like that feature Chad, I'll organize some photos from our past road trips and make them available to you so we can have more albums.

I wanted to add a few thoughts here on the club and what it's meant to me over the past year.

Anybody that's played a few rounds with me know that I've been unemployed for quite a while. Few know how much this game has helped me through this strange time and I owe a great deal to everybody involved at the Castle for supporting and organizing such a great experience to be part of.

As of Monday afternoon I'm anticipating a job offer in Annapolis, MD. Now I'm trying to sell my house and relocate with enough time to settle in before my wife and I expect our first child.

Disc golf has become my outlet to forget the hard times and just have fun. This club has been extraordinary as far as accepting novice players like myself and teaching me along the way. I will always remember the Castle as the course that taught me how to play and I will make return trips as much as possible.
