Bring your own partner doubles....Tuck style!
Twenty dollars per team, ie 10 dollars per player.
Captains choice doubles at Castle Hayne Park.
Long layout (the same as the Azalea)
Check in at 4pm on Friday April 15th 2011 shotgun start at 4:30pm
Party at papa bellas to follow...
Paying out the top 33% and will be figured and posted at sign up.
This is a great opportunuty to practice for the azalea and to have fun as always.
Come out and get a chance to check out the lines at Castle Payne!

With days growing longer and the temp's on the rise we will start week night doubles tonight. we tee at 6:00 sharp so get there early to get in.

We will have a new format this year where we will be playing different forms of doubles each week for the 4 months of play. The format will be as follows

First Week of the month we will play Best shot / Captains Choice
This is the game everyone is familiar with

Second Week of the month we will play Alternate Shot

In Alternate Shot, only one sequence of throws is made on each hole. The team selects a player to throw the tee shot at the beginning of the round. The other player then throws from the subsequent lie, and play alternates in that fashion until the round is completed. Alternate Shot is closer to a singles format, where one partner can't bail the other out. If you miss a short putt, chances are good that you'll be driving the next hole.
• If the wrong player on a team throws, another team must call it immediately, like a foot fault. The team receives a warning, and the correct player throws. Subsequent violations incur a one-throw penalty.
• For any violation that requires a rethrow (stance violation, provisional throw), the same player throws.


Third Week of the month we will play Best Disc (Best Score)

In Best Disc (also known as Best Score), each player plays the hole as they would while playing singles; there are no shared lies. The team score is the best score on the hole by one of its players.
• The player who is away will always throw first, with this exception: If both players are lying the same number of throws, the team may choose which player throws first.
• A player must pick up once it is impossible for him to better the team's score. The team incurs a warning for the first violation, and a penalty throw for subsequent violations.
• In case of injury or disqualification, one partner may play alone.


Fourth Week of the month we will play 6 – 6 – 6

In 6 -6 -6 you play six holes of Best shot (holes 1 -6) six holes of Alternate shot (holes 7 – 12) and six holes of Best Disc (best Score) (holes 13 – 18)

The course has lost a few trees and there is plenty of ground debris in the fairways.DG has said that the park will be having a tree service come out and he will be present when they are working so no unneccesary cutting will be done.Please let the tree service handle this and if you are looking to help with cleanup start with the debris in the fairways.I'm sure Dave will be planning a work day soon so stay tuned for more info.
