we could be playing golf by April. the Master Plan should be approved late January early February and the construction should start in Mid March. the course has been roughly layed out. we have 18 holes. the shortest is hole 6 it is 135 feet up hill and the longest is hole 16 at 600 feet uphill anhyzer. Russell Schwarz should be finanlizing the design in the next few weeks and we should have GPS points with holes drawn on a PDF within the next week or so. i will post this as soon as i get it.

That's great news. Can't wait to have another course at my home away from home.
Did you get more land to work with? I thought I remember hearing it was going to be a really short course or possibly only 9 holes. |

that was our concern initially but we got a great course desginer. the great thing with densley wooded courses is that you can put fairways in close proximity to each other. we do have the ability to leak over into some wooded property that is owned by the school the park is adjacent to but it is nothing significant. i was very impressed with the efficient use of the land we had. i think it will be a very good intermediate course which is exactly what we need in new hanover county.

You definitely need a not only a beginner friendly course, but just another course in general. I played at Castle twice last weekend and it was packed both times, which is great to see, but it would be nice to alleviate some of that traffic. Also, I can't help to think the difficulty of the Payne might have turned off some newbies. I know I'm glad I was introduced to the game at good ole Kentwood.
I know I've played at least one of Russel's courses, Lake Reidsville, which is a great course except for two holes. I know you probably would have wanted Harold (my favorite course designer) to design it, but I have confidence that Russel will do a great job. I'm excited. Thanks for the update, BTW. |

Thanks for posting this Al. not sure what i think about it. it is great that we get poblicity and coverage. but at the same time i am mildley concerned about her encouragement of passing off the course as walking trails.

What up DG and Al K.,
Sorry I missed the meeting last night,Tuesdays just don't work well for me.I was thinking that maybe we could get Stew to throw together some signage warning people of the hazards of walking thru the course. It may help posting these on 4&6 tee entry off parking lot and maybe the walkway into 10.Just a thought.Good luck to you boys in Columbia.Hope your MASTERS debut is a good one Moncropolis. Thanks Shank, can't think of a funner course to debut on.
I was thinking the same thing on signage, not 'prohibiting' walking, but more of a stern safety warning. Maybe a pic of a guy getting donked on the head like road sign style.
