Random History Lesson

The pledge of Allegiance from 1892

“I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands: one Nation indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.”

When reciting the pledge, you would stand with hands by your side. On a cue, you give a military salute to the flag. This first part was changed shortly afterwards to the following pic.

When saying the lines ''I pledge allegiance to''

this is what you do

When you say ''My Flag'' your hand raises up to the Bellamy salute as if raising the flag.

This was changed in 1942 to just the hand over the heart for obvious reasons.

are they saluting a three color flag or a four color flag? and have you ever known of an instance where our current pres. refers to uor country as a republic? all i hear of is democracy.in my opinion they are not one in the same.

You are correct, we are a Republic, not a Democracy. This is lost on most people today. Most don't even realize it.
