I threw a Destroyer today and really liked it. For me, I compare it to the feeling of a Pro Starfire, but with a much wider rim. I only threw it 3 times, but on my last one the Destroyer went about 40 feet further than any of the other discs.

Got the Destroyers on Friday night and hit the football field. These are the Star proto stamped versions, and this isnt message board distances. I took 2, a flat Red one and a poppy top White. The White was really beefy, the Red was similar to the Teerex-X.
To compare them I also took a seasoned Pro Wraith, a seasoned Star Wraith and 2 Pink proto Raging Infernos. Honestly, I didnt notice much of a difference between the new Destroyer and my seasoned drivers in terms of distance. Obviously, they will perform better when they are used, so keep that in mind. As it was, the RIs outdrove all the others, and I expect the Destroyer to be similar shortly, after I bang if off some trees. They are very fast discs, and I found it interesting they went about as far as the seasoned drivers right out of the box. On average they went about 40-60 feet past the endzone, which is a real good pull. I was throwing golf shots, not trying for distance. The longest shots I threw were when I rolled it over slightly before releasing, so it was coming out with a smidgen of anhyser. To me, it was slightly harder to control than the Wraith. It is faster, but I dont think it was any faster than the Raging Infernos I throw. The main difference was that the RI will actually rise on its way down the fairway and slightly flip over before catching. The Destroyer doesnt really rise up, and when I pitched the nose up slightly, it never wanted to flip at all, just hold. When I beat them in, Ill do the same comparison. Keep in mind, Im throwing RIs made in the best plastic Quest ever produced, and probably wont ever produce again. The Pink protos are the fastest and longest drivers Ive thrown, on the course or in the field. I liked it though, and plan to throw it some more. I felt pretty much like what everyone is saying on this thread is dead on, with the exception of the distance compared with the seasoned drivers Im using already. When these beat in, we will see if that changes, and Im pretty sure it will.

What weights of Destroyers are you guys throwing? I'm trying to decide whether I need 167g Destroyers because the 175g ones will be overstable for me, or if I need to throw the latter heavier weights because I would easily flip over lighter ones. For the record, I throw a maximum of 375 feet on flat ground. Thanks in advance.

go for the lighter ones unless you play where its really windy. unless you throw 425+ or want a new overstable driver, the lighter ones are very nice

I throw 175 Orcs, and my 170 Destroyers are "almost" too overstable "new" for me to get out there very far (they are great for wind though). I would go with the lighter weight. I don't think you'll be flipping a 167 until it's very, very broken in.

I've thrown these a few times but for me its purely a distance disc. I throw Z and ESP crush for pretty much all my drives and I'd say these are 25-30 feet longer but i'm much more accurate with a crush than I ever could be with these

Your right !!!!
I have a 167 and it's still stable into a headwind !!!! I have been throwing a slight flex shot with them. I have a Champion version , 169 grams , and it Flys just like my Champion 11x TeeBird , 174 grams , with more distance !!!!! ![]() It's the fastest , farthest , most controllable driver out there now !!!! Thanks Innova !!!!! Donny Olow

Retards: How much?
I lost mine in the drink during the final 9 at the Kingston Open yesterday Thankfully it didn't happen earlier, it was key to my pulling off the win on that long course.

It's an excellent forehand disc. It could replace my Flicks. Similar flight although faster and the plastic feels better. I own about 12 Flicks for backup and practice, so it may take me a while to get 12 Destroyers.

I agree. I throw crappy sidearms, but this disc is overstable enough to correct bad releases, and the speed gives it mad skips.

I actually have a solid forehand, and I will say that it improves distance for good forehands as well. I can throw my Wraith out there a decent distance with a forehand, I feel like I might finally have a 400 foot forehand with a little work with the Destroyer. Big maybe, but it feels like it holds the line for a long long time.

I havent tried to crush a sidearm shot with it though. Ive only used it for them because Im carrying a white star and its REALLY overstable. Its the beefiest driver in my bag.

i'll agree on the forehand. I have been learning it and have had about 330-350 or so distance. I went and played and went 20-30 ft past a 370 foot hole.

I would say how far I threw it forehand but the trolls will come out and say I'm a liar so I won't bother.

Come on how far. I'll buy it out to 500' Cause I have seen 450' with my own eyes (not my arm).

I did more field testing today. No 500' for me. I'm too old. About 420'. I can still throw a Wraith farther but they are so danged touchy. A Wraith may go left or right when I try to throw that hard but I've never had a disc that I can throw 375' forehand hyzer like a Destroyer. I needs mo' Destroyers.

is the flight plate of the star destroyer really gummy like the champ version? Also, are there any major differences in the flight of the 2 plastics?

I have a 169g Champion and a 172g Star and the Champion is more stable. Big arms will be able to get huge S shots out of both of these. I would say the Star flight plate is not as gummy as the Champion.

The Destroyer is the best wide rimmed driver I've thrown. I don't like the touchiness of the Wraith and Teerex, so I thought that the wide rim was responsible. I was wrong. In my limited experience (about 30 drives) the Destroyer performed as I expected almost every time. I was initially surprised that this is not an overstable disc when thrown with any sort of power. I was throwing about 75% with a little hyzer and the disc flipped up but not flat and flew on a nice muted/gliding hyzer line that you do not see out of the Wraith or Teerex. It is more like the faster Teebird that the Teerex was touted as but never lived up to. It is nose angle sensitive, but somehow seems less so than the Wraith and Teerex beacause in all my throws I never totally flipped it nor had it climb and stall. The Destroyer is a great stable partner to my Rogues, but it has not flown as far as them as consistantly yet (too stable for balls out D). The plastic is quite grippy. I generally prefer Discraft, but I will be the first to admit that they do not have any molds that compare to this.
PS: I second David M's observation that it feels like a wide rimmed Predator... |

I can't believe how far the Destroyer flies. I can rip into it as hard as I possibly can while releasing it flat and it just flips about ten degrees and holds that angle while flying straight. I was bombing champion wraiths and teerex's to about 500' and the Destroyer was landing 70' deeper every time. It was crazy.
And those were all jump putts only. |

i too was amazed by the Star Destroyer. It outflew my Pro Orcs even though there was a left to right tailwind and the Pro Orcs are my prefered disc for D. It is also incredibly fast -- it gets small quick!
![]() normally i don't like discs this stable, but i am liking this disc! great name too -- wasn't that the name of one of the best Led Zeppelin bootleg LPs(?) |

The Destroyer is a bootleg recording from the English rock group Led Zeppelin's performance at Richfield Coliseum, Cleveland, Ohio on April 27, 1977. The soundboard recording is from the first show of two nights at the venue. This 4-LP (later 3-CD) set is highly sought after by collectors due to the exceptional sound quality throughout the performance. It was the first, and for many years the only, professionally recorded mixing desk tape to escape from the band's possession, and it has since been bootlegged many times on vinyl and CD. Initial vinyl pressings of the bootleg incorrectly credited Seattle, Washington, as the location of this show. The bootleg should not be confused with an audience recording from the following night in Cleveland, which is also sometimes entitled The Destroyer. Though marred by poor sound quality, some critics consider this second performance better than the more famous first "Destroyer" gig. [edit] Set List "The Song Remains The Same" "Sick Again" "Nobody's Fault But Mine" "In My Time of Dying" "Since I've Been Loving You" "No Quarter" "Ten Years Gone" "The Battle of Evermore" "Going to California" "Black Country Woman" "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" "White Summer" / "Black Mountain Side" "Kashmir" "Out on the Tiles" / "Moby Dick" ("Over the Top") Jimmy Page Theremin/Guitar/Effects Solo - "Star Spangled Banner" "Achilles Last Stand" "Stairway to Heaven" "Rock and Roll" "Trampled Under Foot" [edit] See also Led Zeppelin bootleg recordings wikipedia on Led Zeppelin Destroyer |

I just can't wait to get back to Iowa, period. The "showing off of that D" will just be a bonus. It looks like the only time I'll get to Iowa for the rest of the year will be for the Treasure Cove Classic in Council Bluffs. Hopefully some of you east siders and even Western Illinois folk like you Chase, can make it over for that B tier.
