I've got a DevilHawk X with added stability to hold its line through tropical depressions and upper level lows. It also negotiates low ceilings better, often staying just under the clouds without losing too much distance.

The great thing about buying DevilHawks online is that the shipping is always free. Just put the address on a post-it, stick it on the underside of the disc and throw.

now that some have had their silly fun and wasted our time, can we get the thread back on track? specifically-how less stable are the pro destroyers compared to the star?

Pro plastic is NOT being discontinued. The Pro Destroyer is currently in production and should be available in regular stock in December.

Yeah check your facts Mr.Worlds Sponsor...
If you will read the Ask Dave D thread you would know that several more overstable destroyer molds already exist... But Dave is not convinced that the wider rim is fair due to it giving larger handed players a bigger advantage that we already have...or I should say I think that is what he thinks... |

ZoneDriven has Tupelo Bay Open Champion and Pro Destroyers.
If you haven't thrown a Pro, and you like the Destroyer, it's a MUST! I've only played a couple rounds since USDGC, and I have been throwing that disc farther than anything I have ever thrown It pops like no other disc. I have yet to throw the Champion, but the Pro is the king disc in my bag now.

The Pro is much more stable than the Star for me. The Star was quite flippy but had alot of glide at the end. The Pro was much more stable and had alot of glide at the end, but with lower spin it will have a killer stall at the end of the glide.
What I like the most is that I don't have to throw this disc as hard as other drivers, and I will get more distance out of it. Now that I'm officially Masters age, this is a good thing for me! |

Anyone else notice their Star Destroyer going from overstable to flippy after a few tree hits? Two weeks ago my Star Destroyer was the perfect stable/overstable partner to my flippy max D drivers. Now it is one of my flippy max D drivers...It goes a long way now but I can't say as if I'm impressed with the durability. A driver should not change that quickly imo, I don't care how fast it is or how far it goes.

Try a Champ Destroyer. They go every bit as far, if not further, andnow they are only about $20 instead of $500.

I have seen that happen with several of the star destroyers. I have both and the champion is a little more stable at first but when the star ones get beat they are very flippy. It may be hard to believe but I have a star one that is 172 and it flies like a valkyrie of the same weight. Still goes a mile but I definitely prefer my champion one.

How fast are your guys' Pros breaking in? I have a Star that I've had for 2 monthes that is just now starting to turn more before it comes back. I usually only throw these in the open with an occasional limb hit. never hit a tree dead on.

So, is it a safer bet to get a champ destroyer (rather than a star) if I want one that will hold its line over a longer period of time?

Go Champion Destroyer !!!!! They are Awesome. I highly recommend them !!!!!
A beat Star will flip some. A New Pro is a bit more overstable than a Star , but a Star version may fly farther because it flatens out first before hyzering back. Try ALL Three. Each one has it's own unique flight characteristics. It really depends on what type of shot you are looking for and what line you need the disc to hold at !!!!! I hope that is not to specific , but true !!! Atleast here in Southern California. WORD !!!!!!! ![]() Donny Olow |

Review...
Champion Destroyers - Super fast but seems less stable that Star. Star Destroyers - Agree they are a farther disc because the flatten out far then hyzer... Pro Destroyers - Love them!! Super Stable version of the Destroyer I think. I feel more confident in throwing hard with this disc knowing it will stable out in the end. My Lefty view......laters... |

R the Champs more domey than the star?? How does the Pro dome wise compare to the both?? How can anyone complain about a Star Destroyer even if they do start to flip after awhile they are further and more stable the wraith.

I think the Star has less dome that the Champion and the Pro has the MOST dome of any of them.
I'm not the only one that thinks that. My buddy Moose is a big gun thrower standing at 6' 8" tall... He actually was the one who brought it up to me. We went out and played about 6 holes just throwing the champion, star and pro destroyer. the pro destroyer was the most stable. Plus throw after throw it was consistently stable. Pro Destroyer.........the stable pig in my bag.... ![]() |

I really dig the Destroyer, and it is the only disc that I would carry in different plastics all the time....
The Pro, Star, and Champ all fly with different characteristics..... Star for Teebird like flight pattern. Champ for a more overstable solution. And the Pro can do it all in different conditions....that is if you have them beat in right... As good as the pro feels in my hand, there is something about that STAR that keeps callin me back... I just played a tournament in Jasper Akransas, the course is called Horseshoe Canyon. As the name implies, it is a huge beautiful canyon....and when I needed the long stuff, I found myself looking for my Star rather than my pro.... But I guess that is all subjective B.S. for everyone else.... |

In addition to your great descriptions I wanted to add that that the first Star Destroyer I got was orange 175 "proto" stamped and the plastic had a taffy-like texture. The texture is soft to the touch with a matte finish and was nicely flexible. This disc became understable pretty quickly and now requires some hyzer to fly straight.
I was thumbing through a stack of Star Destroyers about a week ago and I found one highlighter red at 170 grams with a "proto" star stamp also but the texture of this star plastic was slightly different. It had a shiny finish and was even more flexible. I would describe this as more of a gummy star plastic. I have found the second, lighter star destroyer to be slightly straighter at high speed (more stable) and really just fun to throw because of how flexible it is - but that's just my preference. just thought i'd share that not all star plastic is created equal |

I have a champion and star destroyer at max weight, they fly almost identical. Are the pro destroyers more understable? I keep seeing people say they are more stable, are you saying it has less of a fade?

that should be correct, as stable implies straight. Unfortunately, most people use "more stable" to mean more overstable. not to get too technical, but a teebird is actually "more stable" than a firebird. a teebird is also more stable than a leopard.
