I think it was in the CP/Leander Community Impact newspaper thing that comes in the mail every so often....park being built there, with a disc golf course included. TLast time i drove on 1431 and looked north as i passed Lime Creek Road, i could see some constuction was going on and i assume its that park i read about. I think they are gonna make the west end of New Hope hit 1431 and this park is gonna be on that section.

The park is "Northwest Community Park" and here's an article i found about it:

http://www.hillcountrynews.com/artic...ews/news01.txt

that confirms my recollection about the park itself and its location on New Hope....but now i can't find the info on the disc golf course. I swear i read about it in a similar article with that same drawing of the park.......maybe it was confusion on the article writer's part (confused with the course rumored to be at brushy creek park)......and i'm just spreading it, lol.

Are you talking about this course?

From Texas Parks and Wildlife:

Williamson: Williamson County Brushy Creek Regional Park II (regional park) received $517,213 to acquire 37.1 acres by donation to expand and further develop Brushy Creek Regional Trail located east of the City of Cedar Park in the southern area of the county. Proposed development includes a 2.75-mile trail with creek crossing and aquatic viewing area, fishing areas, wetlands improvements, aquatic garden, water fowl feeding area, xeriscape garden, exercise station, nine-hole disc golf course, 10 benches, kiosk, interpretive signs, roadway, parking, and project acknowledgement signs.

From Williamson County:

Construction of Phase 2 of the Brushy Creek Regional Trail will begin this month. Phase 2 will extend the trail east from the Creekside Trail Head at Great Oaks 4,000 feet through Fern Bluff MUD property. Muniz Concrete and Contracting is the contractor on the project. The trail is projected to be open this spring and will cost approximately $467,000. It will be constructed of granite gravel and concrete and will have some interpretive signs.

“Trails for hiking, biking and walking are one of our top priorities, as well as the top priority for the cities and Municipal Utility Districts in and around us,” said Jim Rodgers, director of Williamson County Parks and Recreation.

When all phases are complete, the Brushy Creek Regional Trail is a planned 8-mile project from Cedar Park to IH-35 in Round Rock. The trail was designated as a National Recreational Trail by the National Parks Service in June 2005. Phase 1 of the trail is approximately 3-miles long and runs from the new City of Cedar Park Brushy Creek Lake Park at Parmer Lane to the Creekside Trail Head at the intersection of Brushy Creek Road and Great Oaks Drive. The trail is open from sunrise to sunset and is free to use.

that's the one that Efrain mentioned earlier today....park expansion to the existing park that contains the trail that is along Brushy Creek Rd. between Parmer and Great Oaks.

The one *I* mentioned is another park for which I was pretty sure i read about a golf course being built at it....but now i'm no so sure.

oh well.

I meet with the parks next Wednesday @2;30. We will be revisiting the contract (review tee box size, our liability, and locations) they also said they will want to know when we can start work. David (parks) has decided that it would be easier for us to apologize than get permission. So ITS ON. We need to act fast…so who wants to coordinate our resource, set time lines, and delegate responsibilities.

No problem with getting some 2x4's for the tee pads. Will need a couple of days notice and will need list of size pads we are going to build. Like how long and how wide and how many. Will haul in my p/u to site whenever we are ready to go.

Default walking the course

This evening I will be walking the course with Timmy(concrete connection). We will determine how many man hours are needed to set the forms and rebar. We have 10yds. donated, they want us to do all 10 yds which is 19 boxes the same day. We don't have the resources to do that, so I will be pushing for 6 at a time. Then we will only have to do 6 forms, move them to the next six, and so on. The bottom line is we may not be able to use all that is donated if they want us to take it the same day.
Once this starts it's on, and we need everybody that committed to helping us out to be on tap. Me and V can't head this up, we will be there to work but can't be the "el heffe's" on this. Laying the wire and rebar will be the biggest part of the work and probably the most expensive part. They start scraping 6 boxes at a time Friday the 30th, and they expect us to keep pace with them. So here's our chance to get this done before the heat and give OSP what it's always needed, concrete boxes.

thanks, edman
