Awesome! Pretty crappy day in Abilene too....but we managed to raise $1,000 with 150 lbs of food. Another good year for the West Texas region!!

C'mon down to Plainview on June 13th and try the course out at their kickoff event (see related tread under Lubbock Windriders). I sure won't have a $500 ace pot....unless someone donates about $450 or so.

I haven't heard of any. Sad too, because it's so close to here. Not in the cards for me & D this time. Freaking economy...

More dissappointing news for those losers who want to spread lies and untrue rumors:

2 ACES in yesterday's round paid $500.00. Tom G. (hole #3) and Mike Wilting (hole #2) each collected $250.00.

It really sucks that these narrow minded poor sports need to try to bring down the club that has been keeping the competitive aspect alive by telling lies to the newer players, and hosting their exclusive "club meetings" (actually just beer, dope, and darts) with the only agenda of slamming and slandering those who want to grow the sport fairly. Are they ever going to grow a pair and try the face-to-face approach? Doubtful, they can't handle the truth. It's just easier to feel better about running down someone who isn't there to provide the real facts.

Saturday evening eats covered! And beer to go with it!

Trophies are looking good, thanks Disc-Diva.

The creek has been back & forth clear/muddy. Hopefully it'll be clear next weekend. The park is green and lush! Lots of recent rain is making rollers difficult.

Still no word back from the pdga HQ about sanctioning.

We've gotten a lot of rain recently and the park is looking thick & green. On some fairways there's almost no chance of throwing a successful roller. Bring plenty of bug spray.

We are on track for our wettest month EVER! We're already 7 inches over our average for the month, and if we get another 2.5 before August is over, it will go down as the wettest month in Amarillo's history.

The forecast calls for drier conditions for the next week, so we should have a very nice weather weekend. Now if we can get the wind to calm down....

Big Daddy's BBQ is proud to help feed hungry Disc Golfers. They say they will hook us up for lunch on Saturday with a "Disc Golfer's Special". Sandwich, chips, and a drink for cheap. They're on the North end of the park on Hastings (just past the River Road intersection).

Default DG in Dalhart, TX

Just heard today there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony for the brand new DG course in Dalhart, TX tomorrow (Northwest Panhandle almost in New Mexico). Sat. 11:00am at Rita Blanca lake. I think it will start somewhere near the big dance hall/barn at the XIT Rodeo grounds beside the lake. I've tossed a bunch of discs in this area and there is potential for a really good course with a lot of trees, water, and elevation. Bring sturdy shoes and drinking water.

Put this course on your "To Play" list!

For a group of newer players, these enthusiasts have done a really good job. Once one or two flow issues get worked out, this course has GREAT possibilities. Plenty of room for expansion, and really good support from the property owners and the town. Only 9 baskets at this point, but there is talk of adding more as interest grows.

I'll post contact info as I get permission, or you can contact the Dalhart Chamber of Commerce or I believe the First Baptist Church.

Cool. I've actually thrown disc there also as I have a few companies that I occasionally visit in the Dalhart area. I think I'll be headed up that way in a month-ish....so info would be great.

Default Dalhart Disc Golf

Hello Patrick, the course is a nice little nine hole that sits right off of 281 at Rita Blanca lake. There is definitely potential for that park. I hope it takes off for those guys.

It's time to get ready for the annual Wintertime Food Drive! Gather up as much as you can and let's make a big donation to the High Plains food Bank. One week after the Super Bowl on Sunday afternoon.

This weather should be enough to get everyone ready for an ICE BOWL. 6 - 10 inches of snow plus ice under that. Thank goodness we didn't get much ice this time, the trees at the course need a break.

If this weather doesn't get you excited about an Ice Bowl, nothing will.

Tee pads are clear for now, but more ICE & SNOW is expected.

Get your donations together, we'll still carry on regardless of what the weather does. The HIGH PLAINS FOOD BANK needs our help!

It was certainly an ICY BOWL!
Below freezing and blowing wind (30mph+).
13 players for the SHORT GAME (Finnan Mcclellan wins by 1)
17 players for the main round (Tom Brown wins GOLD, Adam Howse/Silver).

Looks like arond $300 cash and about 100# of food.

Thanks everyone for braving the nasty weather and helping Panhandle golfers donate to the HIGH PLAINS FOOD BANK!!!

Help high school students enjoy disc golf!

Here is information from Matt's flyer for the first TX HS DG Championship:

Texas High School Disc Golf Championship

Presented by the City of Levelland, the Levelland Lighthouse Disc Golf Club and the Lubbock Windriders Disc Golf Club

Saturday May 15, 2010 – Levelland City Park Disc Golf Course

2 rounds of 21 holes, lunch (provided) break between rounds
8:30 am Check-in, 9:00 am Players meeting, 9:30 am Tee-off

PDGA Rules will apply (PDGA membership is not required)

Current high school (grades 9-12) boy and girl students from Texas are welcome!

Format: Team and Individual Championships

TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT: A minimum number of 5 players from a school will be considered a team and eligible to compete in the Team Championship portion of the competition. Players must all be students currently enrolled in high school. Enter up to ten team members from one school (more students may sign up on a waiting list and may play if space allows). Using scores of best individual players, the combined 5 low scores of your team will be compared to the combined 5 low scores of the other teams. The team with the over-all lowest total score will win the Team Championship. Female players will play from the short tees and male players will play from the long tees. The top team will receive a trophy and medals.

INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT: You do NOT have to have a 5-person team to enter. Your score from both rounds will go toward your Team score and your Individual score. The player with the over-all lowest score for both rounds will win the Individual Championship. Individual players will be competing for medals. Medals will be awarded to the top 5 players.

Cost: $15 per player. Each entrant will receive a players package including a golf disc.
Pre-register by mail or register on-site day of event. Field is limited to 84 players!

For more information, contact Matt Ryan (matthewtryan@me.com)

Just dropped off the goodies at the High Plains Food Bank, and they said, "Thank you all for once again making HPFB your charity of choice for the last 15 years!"

Exactly $300.00 cash and exactly 125 pounds of rice, beans, and other canned foods.

Texas Panhandle Flying Disc Association stepping up to help the community, again!

Disc Golf in Canyon, TX? Could be, and possibly a stepping stone to a course in "The Canyon".

I went to Canyon on Friday to visit with some folks about the game, and they are VERY interested. Finding a spot for an intermediate course shouldn't be too difficult, but a BLUE or GOLD course may have to wait for a while.

Which would be more useful in Southeast Park, a DG course or more little league baseball/adult softball fields? Which would be easier to afford? Where would the ball teams play?

Hey John,
Any word on the Discrazy Shootout? We went a few years back and really enjoyed it. Wanted to get another tourney in before Worlds and I would definitely consider going out to Amarillo again. Any info would help. Thanks
