Anyone throw one yet? How does it compare to a CE TL? More stable?

I'm thinking the Star TL may be a bit too stable, probably flies like a broken in 11x TB?

Picked some up at the factory yesterday then hit the practice field.

These things are beautiful. Thrown with a slight hyzer they flip flat and fly. Only a slight fade at the end.
Released straight there is a slight turnover resulting in a predictable S shot.
Grippy like the 1st run CE's. I actually broke out a 1st run CE TL that was thrown only a couple of times and was getting more distance out of the Star TL.

The whole Star line overall should be as good as if not better than the CE line both in my opinion and in that of some Innova employees.

The Star valk is as fast as the CE valk. Much quicker than the Champion version.
Same can be said for the Star TL.
And most importantly at a fraction of the price as CE.

Into a Discatcher Traveler. On it's side. Yes it stuck. Yes i was amazed.

What weights did you throw sd? I am definitely interested if it is faster but not necessarily more stable than the 170g CE TL I throw...

I was throwing 3 170 orange Star TL's. 1st run CE TL was a 171.

For those of who haven't thrown a CE TL (I wish I had $100-150 to do so), can anymore compare the Star TL to the Pro or the CFR?
I've found the CFR to be more overstable than the Pro, and I'm wondering if the Star will be even more overstable or somewhere in the middle. Thanks.

From my run ins (few) with the other plastics, I would say the star is in the middle. It's a sweet flyer, threw it tonight, it bombs straight. This disc is a keeper. In the bag. What is coming out? Probably my Nightshift Orc.

This is a great disc, got some today, go where you throw kinda disc flat flip flies straight. Nice fairway driver in between a Roc and a faster driver. Kinda reminds me of the leopard but more stable, and a little faster.

I picked one up at a tourny the other day (170g). In one throw I decided it was definitly in the bag.
Heres the best way i can describe its flight:
HSS - just like my SE Teebirds (TL mold) but a little more stable
LSS - B/w a Champ Valk and a SE Teebird
It flies as long as my Pro Starfire, a little longer actually. Its become my go to distance disc for everything except L-R cross winds. Its easy to control too. The plastic holds up great I've smacked a few trees pretty **** hard and it still has its shape, perfect. Next tourny I go to I'm gonna pick a couple more.

Yeah, the Star TL is pretty much the best. I think it flies like a brand new Pro Teebird-L but longer with a little more low speed fade, which is great.

Thrown with hyzer they'll flip up, turn a bit, and fly forever ending up dead straight. The best thing though is in the woods: throw these flat at 70% power and they are the straightest thing ever.

I've thrown the Star TL a lot now. It seems to take flutter extremely well. I've thrown it flat and hard, with a little flutter, and it just erases the flutter and it doesn't seem to affect the flight. They just come out, get flat, and glide. I wish I played more golf so I could really use it during rounds. I'll test it out in Augusta this Sunday some more.

I'm getting 95-97% of the distance as with my Wraiths and TeeRexes with it. Not bad for a sleeper disc... with a speed rating of 7.

I just picked up one of these last week and it flies great. I don't throw much pro/dx plastic and I have always been looking for a driver in a better plastic without the low speed fade that usually comes with it. This is that disc. You can throw it with a touch of hyzer and it flips up and flies straight with minimal fade at the end. Mine is a pale yellow 175g. Now I can feel better about my Star TB being so friggin overstable because alongside the TL they are the perfect pair for stable fairway drives in all conditions. I played today in like 93 degrees and it was soooo grippy. Be careful however when buying max weight...at the store I got it at they had a scale and the 3 other TLs marked 175g weighed 177g and 178g.

Was that a factory second or did they actually write "175g" on the back? Disc companies should not encourage the use of illegal discs by mismarking overweight discs. 176g is one thing, but 181g...

i just started throwing TL's and i have a question about them for you who do. do they tend to go far even thrown low? (i was under the impression slower discs needed more heighth to go far, but my TL seems to almost rise on its own when thrown hard and low. also, do the STAR versions have a little more low speed fade? that's my experience but i was given two Champion TL's and each were already broken in...

I don't think it will fly as low as a Wraith for the whole flight. To me it seems to have more lift than most discs, like a Leopard, it'll go and go, but not particularly low. It's a disc that doesn't really mind height. Whereas the faster drivers seem to stall out if they get air, the TL and Leopard seem to defy logic.

The TL is slower than most of the super-fast drivers out now but I wouldn't call it slow. It is still pretty fast.

Discs in the same run do not vary much in weight, only 1-2 grams in my experience. So for example if one orange TL weighs 179g, then the whole darn run is significantly overweight. I understand that new plastics require some tweaking to get right and the disc companies do not want to just throw money away when a whole run is overweight, but they could at least sell them as X-outs for people not planning to use them in tournaments rather than abusing the trust that the PDGA extends to them with the proverbial "PDGA APPROVED" stamp.

About the TL's flight, it does have that almost convex bottow wing like the Wraith/TeeRex/Starfire L/Beast/Leopard that seems to provide an almost magical lift/glide to the discs flight. This allows for a lower profile flight I believe. Also, given its slightly understable tendencies it can be thrown low with a touch of hyzer, giving it even more lift. I love to do the same thing with my Star Wraith, getting 400'+ in a straight line very low to the ground. As pointed out in the previous post, the real magic of the TL is its ability to fly high without the punishing low speed fade of most other drivers in its class. I've had people criticize my drive with the TL right out of my hand as too high, only to watch amazed as it finishes by dropping straight out of the air.

Haha... yeah I got quite a few with it. Its the perfect disc for 4 on the darkside too.

My TL is stable. I have to throw it with anny to make it turn. If I release it hard and flat, its going exactly where I release it dead straight for about 350ft and finishes slightly left.

I have a red one beefy enough for me to take the Teebird outta my bag. Ive tried beating the crap outta this thing by putting it in a towel and beating a cement floor. Doesnt matter. Still Beefy.

This disc is SWEET. Orange 175 flatter, in a head or tail I can pinpoint it >350 with a slight hyzer or slight annie. This disc will never leave my bag.
Compared to CFR, it is straighter (or maybe easier to throw straight)
Compared to Pro, it can take a bit more torque, and it's a little more overstable.

When I lost my original Star TL I couldn't find another of similar weight at the time and I ended up forgetting about it. Last weekend I came across another one and remembered why I threw it in the first place. Its a very sweet disc, sort of like a wind resistant XL/Leopard. I was just wondering how long it takes to get one broken in because I would like one that had some turn to its flight.
