Default \'05 Worlds DVD

Anyone seen it? Reviews? Is it worth purchasing?

I though 04 was kinda weak...too much to cover being Pro/AM/JR...they basically show a few clips and then the finals for each division.

I watched the 05... IMO it was much better than the 04 and 03... I'm a little biased because it was in my backyard and one of my good buddies is the commentator... but overall it was a good video....

For some reason, with DG videos, I watch them once and thats it... i'm sure I have about 7 or 8 that were once viewed... if anyone is interested, pm me...

04 absolutely sucks. All you get is the same 9 holes for all divisions.

I liked it! Mainly because they caught my long uphill putt going in!

I like the 'O5 Worlds DVD a lot. I've watched it a couple of times and will certaintly watch it again. Nice footage, good quality, great players! I like the pro tips, and wish there were a few more. I would give it two thumbs up.

Can anyone compare it to the '05 Marshal Street DVD? I haven't seen it yet, but I really enjoyed the one they did last year.

It's always inspiring to me to see great players play. It's like a good warm-up psyche.

Can't compare the Worlds and MSDGC they are both different beasts, but this year both very worthwhile purchases

The 2005 Worlds Video is by far the PDGA's best DVD to date. Great announcer, decent weekly coverage, good camera work. The Pro tips are a good bonus and the DVD flows very well. The only unamusing item would be the constant use of a World Series of Poker theme tune. Just wish I was able to go all in for a million dollar 40 foot putt in our sport.

The 2005 MSDGC is simply awesome. They have one upped the groundbreaking DVD of last year. Tons of disc golf material on there. Great day by day coverage with real time scores and amusing announcing. The video is shot from some great angles as well. Of course the highlight shots, putts, bloopers and heartbreak sections made into seperate music videos are worth the purchase alone.

Roger Ebert says: "The MSDGC DVD is light years ahead of any disc golf video I have reviewed. Now if I can just enter that Table Talk pie eating contest, my weight may be down, but I can always undo the staples"

I have both videos and I have to agree with Jay's comments. Both videos are great. I really like the MSDGC coverage of the skins events and oh by the way, Jay, where did you get that boob job. You need to consider another doctor (you have to see the video to understand)

I will echo Jay and Shaine's comments about the 2005 Pro Worlds video - it's by far the PDGA's best DVD to date. The announcer hs a great voice for commentary and does a fine job. The camera work is excellent for the most part. The top players in each division are interviewed each night, so you really get a sense for how the competition progressed during the week. The Pro tips was a really good idea!

There are still some areas that can be improved on:

1) I can't imagine that the wildlife noises (birds, insects, etc.) are natural, and they are REALLY loud.

2) Many times the camera focuses on a player throwing, but then fails to show the result of shot. While it's interesting to show the player's form and follow-through once or twice, it gets excessive, and many good shots are lost. Additionally, the viewer is unable to get a feel for the hole or the difficulty of the shot.

3) While there are some random shots from each of the four courses during the week, you never get a feel for any of the holes or the courses. The PDGA asked for feedback on Pro Worlds videos last year and I stressed the importance of showing some of the signature holes at each of the courses. I'd like to re-emphasize this! I found it mind-boggling that incredibly scenic holes from the Jordan Creek course such as holes#8,9, and 10 (holes that play down the pipeline cut) or hole#14 (over both branches of the Jordan Creek) were not featured. Where were the picturesque 16th and 17th holes from the Nockamixon course, with their waterfalls and water hazards? There was virtually zero coverage from Tinicum, and the Little Lehigh course made it onto the video only because the Finals were held there. Many scenic holes from the Little Lehigh Parkway course that were not used in the Finals were left out entirely. I'd like to see (and I think a great majority of viewers would also) future Pro Worlds videos with a camera on the tee, at the landing area(s) and around the polehole with the announcers commenting on these signature holes and how they are being played to really give the viewer a feel for what it's like to play these courses.

I liked it, too. There's good coverage of the final groups so you can witness their ups and downs through the final round. I liked to coverage of the other divisions too, but very well focused on the Open men and women.

I was dissapointed by the 05 worlds dvd. Too much extra crap and not enough golf. The coverage of the numerous divisions is nice and all but they should have shortend that stuff up to leave room for more than nine holes for the open players (men and women). Also, I though the camera work in many cases was very poor. My favorite videos are both msdgc dvds and the 03 usdgc (best film and picture quality) dvd. This video is not even in the ball park. Still worth watching though. Not worth $25. I think I got mine for 15 bucks. Oh yeah, sorry to the dude who said the anouncer was his friend but I didnt care for the announcer either. He had a very profesional voice, but he just sounded kind of phony.
