It looks like they will be planting baskets this weekend in Bryan Park

Looks nice, I did a little google work and came up with this:

Editorial Review for Bryan Park – by Doug Budryk
This 257-acre park showcases North Richmond. Featuring picnic shelters, tennis courts, soccer fields, wooded areas and plenty of open space, Bryan Park is a treat for those that like lots of physical activity. If standing around is more your speed, then bring your fishing rod and license and fish in the lake for largemouth bass, bluegill and catfish. Should you visit Bryan Park in the spring, bring your camera with loads of color film to capture the world-famous Azalea Gardens. Lush azalea bushes splash brilliant colors across a beautifully landscaped garden. Everyone will be impressed by this remarkable display. An entry fee may be required during spring.

when you are leaving richmond on 95 north just north of the interchange with 64 westbound there is a large area on your left fenced off with grass/ponds/large trees- that is bryan park. sort of like newport news in that it has large trees and open space but with hills/water potential as well.

they are likely putting in a course to help curb undesirable activity.

didn't realize the azaleas were "world famous" but they are really nice. also have never seen an entry fee charged.

Hopefully it's in a better neighbourhood than Gillies.

I'm still hobbling with crutches, but I'll get up there and check it out soon. With the all azaleas, it sounds like Augusta National!

Nothing wrong with that `hood. I grew up in worse. They don't bother us. The people playing disc golf at Gillies are worse with their drugs and alcohol.

so...who designed bryan park? hopefully you did but i'm guessing not.

also, i agree that the hood at gillies barely qualifies as hood. there is some serious hood not too far away though.

I had no parts in it. It was done by one of the old timer object golfers here in town. I've not seen it yet but I heard there may be trees protecting baskets or defining them. I'll make no opinions or criticisms until I see it myself. I think it will be a nice course no matter how it turns out. Bryan Park has some rolling hills and elevation changes. Plus it's about 3 or 4 miles from my new house.

Rumour is that at the Grange Monthly on June 30, you will get to hear the band you didn't get to hear at the Va. Open because some idiot ran into me.

My foot is better, I'm able to walk without crutches, and I'm ready to play some drums.

Rock On!

If Rick Allen can do it with one arm, doing it with a banged-up foot should be a breeze.

2007 Shenandoah Shag....

Thanks to everyone who came out to play...hope you all had a great time !

Around 50 players...beautiful weather...and FUN !

Results will be up this week...

Want to thank some folks....

Revolution Disc Golf Bags and 1080 Discs
BiteShoes
DGA

Landon Furlong...course was wonderful !
Eddie Foster and Travis for hard work on course.
Steve Jewell for help with scoring...
John Biscoe for sponsorship...
Carol Silverthorn for the cookies...
And all who donated a CTP' - or just brought a smile.

Hope - Pros enjoyed added cash...and AMs the huge payout.

Glad to hear so many people say "I heard this was an easy course...no way!"...as they turned in the many rounds in the high 70s' on this par 66 course.

Just wanted to say, that I though it was a nice thing to see so many people just relaxing after the awards, and not running to their cars to get home...Landon and I, were watching the end of the US OPEN, and people were still playing the course hours after the tourny' was done.

Thanks to ALL.......see you next year !

Brandon

and YES...Sherando and the Shag WILL have PayPal' in 2008

Default this weekend in virginia\'s dg capital

grange monthly/crabfest saturday 10:00 grange time, HH work/play on sunday 10:30 HH time- bring weedeaters, rechargeable screw guns if you've got them- we will be installing 2 bridges at the least so be prepared to get your feet wet briefly as well. also hope to get the 27 hole set-up in the ground. will probably not bush hog course until closer to the event 7/14 but we've had so little rain that the grass is super thin anyway.

big branch=timber ridge?
Big Branch formerly Timber Ridge North
Timber Ridge formerly Timber Ridge South

Most disc golfers aren't smart enough to understand directions so I changed the name.

Yep, the new course is in and beautiful. They are also having a tournament on Saturday with food(crabs) afterwards. It's $5 to play and the entry fees will go to the Friends of Bryan Park. Tee time is 10:00am.
