Virginia bretheren, Consider yourself invited to the Lakefront Open may 19 and 20. Kingsport is not that far of a drive and the camping at Warriors is first class. The course has been re-designed since last year with the elimination of holes 1,4,5 and 6 due to the construction of a new handicap access playground. The 4 new holes are very fun and challenging and add 3-5 strokes to your score. The flyer is on our website www.lakefrontdiscgolf.com . Come on neighbors, send some love down Tennessee way!

Default Franklin County Recreation Park, Rocky Mount, VA

Fellow Virginians and the rest of the disc golf world, work has officially begun and the installation of another high-quality disc golf course here in the Commonwealth. Rocky Mount is located 25 miles south of Roanoke, VA and roughly 80 miles north of Greensboro, NC on US 220. The local parks and rec dept here has given the green light and a group of 8 of us led by course designer Mitch Hoeppner had a great day rough-cutting out the front nine, including 3 true two-shot par 4's and 1 2&1/2 shot par4/par5. The course will be similar to Elk Creek DGC in Appomattox, VA, except maybe not quite as tightly wooded, but that all still remains to be seen (this is Virginia). Cant' wait to see you all down here in Rocky Mount.

Default VA OPEN

This will be my first VA Open. As such, I've got a couple of questions.

What is camping like? I've got a friend to stay with in Crozet, but if that is a prohibitave drive, then I'd like to camp if there is onsite camping.

What do I need to bring? Food, beer?

Is there a players party on Saturday night? Friday doubles? Anything I should know about?

I'll be coming down from Cincinnati on Thursday 24th. Don't have to be back until the 30th.

Can't wait to see some VA disc golf!

What do I need to bring? Food, beer? in past years you have been able to buy lunch and dinner onsite, as far as anything else you'll have to bring that yourself

Is there a players party on Saturday night? Friday doubles? Anything I should know about? they usually play glo at the grange on fridays and the players party starts friday and ends when you leave on sunday/monday

I'll be coming down from Cincinnati on Thursday 24th. Don't have to be back until the 30th. you should check out some of the other courses in the area like Hawk Hollow (ask John biscoe before you play), Loriella, Pratt, New Quarter - DO NOT drive to Northern VA to play, keep on going north to MD (Seneca) if you are looking to play courses north of the Grange

will is right on all counts- i wouldn't count on being able to play hawk hollow but stranger things have happened- i need to get some work done on it before then.

...and crozet is definitely too far to drive back and forth, probably about 1:45.

Default Walnut Creek Open

Scores are up. Congrats to all the winners. Erik Smith with his first ever Open victory over a stout field. He played solid all day and canned a couple of really long putts (60+, 40+) on the back nine during the second round. David Stowell showing why ratings are completely bunk. Jim Conrad playing some dominating golf.

Thanks to everyone that came. Hopefully I won't get hate mail from any mothers. Thanks to all who helped out including Daniel, Mike R, Jim C, Mike D and Dicshof.

Golden Hills Open in 20 days. The third event in the Golden Ticket series. I'll try and update the website soon.

Doubles are always the day before the tournament. So my guess is they wanted to keep the same format they've always had. Plus one of the reasons for moving the tournament to a Saturday-Sunday format this year was to give people that Monday to travel home.

Why was this event moved forward a week?

Going to lose some NC guys (including myself and Schweb and probably a few more) due to the DEP Cup in Greenville.
