Theodore Curtis 'Ted' Williams

Hot Springs - Theodore Curtis "Ted" Williams, 75, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005
An author, he was a native of Tuscarora Indian Reservation Niagra Falls, Western, N.Y. A son of the late Chief Eleazar Williams (A Sachem Chief of the Turtle Clan and medicine man) and Amelia Chew Williams (mother of the Wolf Clan).

A graduate of LaSalle High School of Niagara Falls, he was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army. He studied trumpet and modern jazz, arranging at Knapp School of Music. He toured the country as a professional archer and his many hobbies included stone carving, ceramics, poetry and chess. He was a crane operator for over 30 years with Eastman Kodak. He was a world champion disc golfer for seven years (legends category) on the pro disc golf association tour. He was author of the book The Reservation and his second book, Big Medicine of the Six Nations, will be published posthumously soon, both by Syracuse University Press.

Always aware of the earth changes and the environment knowing of the divine harmony of the universe and life of prayer, Ted circumnavigated the world to speak in the name of peace.

He was involved in the Native American Church (People of the Long House), member of Wisdom Keeper Forum, Seven Clan A.A. and Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA).

A service and Native American memorial was held on Thursday at his home. Officiating were Cherokee Elder Red Leaf, the Rev. Randall Lanier, also the Elders of the Ghost-Tiospaye, with traditional songs.

An excerpt from the Asheville Citizen News Times 10-02-05

Truly we were graced by Ted's presence and the better for it.
