Today is a day we shall all remember for a long time to come. It is truely a day of loss and tragedy. A friend we have come to love and depend on has left us. Some would even call him the backbone of the friZZak nation. Yes my friends, the discgolf community hangs their heads at this recent misfortune. It is with deep sorrow and regret that we announce the passing of "The Van". Most have seen him in passing and waved or pointed. Many have had the good fortune to have entered his vast cabin. Some have sweated during voyages to far away bars and discgolf courses. To all who have known the van it is a sad day. A truely sad, sad day. For the unfortunate people who knew not the comfort and companionship of the van, we apologize. A veiwing will be available in our driveway. Seating for nine is available. Keep the van alive for a few moments on this thread as we honor him. Share a story. Or simply smile and remember his pure style and grace.

I saw the van at every tournament I went to - for I knew that if I saw the van, that someone in that van would hit an ace that weekend....

I'll never forget the night we met the van. Natron shows up to the house with Morewegians than you could shake a stick at. We partied. When it came time to make room on the floor for them to sleep, they said, "Its cool, we got the van."
Damn I loved that van! |

Ah...THE van.
How I will miss thee from front to back...from the journey to the slippery-slip that saw the birth of "the natural"(I was created to drive that van)...to the comfort recliners in the middle...to the unpickable locks on the back door(how the hell did they break into the Cherokee but not the van)...that van holds some special memories...for a lot of people. I think Congress is meeting next week to decide whether or not to let the van off of life support. Spill one for the van tonight. Call "Pimp My Ride"...they might be able to hook it up. |

I am so sad, it seem slike only last week that I brought a young mohawked mechanic to the Shell station for Automatic Tranny Fluid. I had no idea that the Van was on the list for a sex change, but alas, it was running low on this fluid. I always thought it had an oddly low grumbly voice...
On the bright side, I have spotted some newer vans on the cheap at the corner of 521 and 160 (3-4 miles south of Ballantyne). There was a decent looking 1994 Dodge conversion there for 2 bills. I'm thinking Frizzak Van Fundraising minis.

I was sweeping pads at TThe Castle preparing for the upcoming Azalea Tourney. I had heard about the FriZZaks a couple of months before, so when I saw The Van coming around the corner I knew that this would not just be a tourney, but an Event. Thanks for gracing us with your presence. I had a Van, back in my band days...they're hard to part with.

As I write this post, a forty is being poured in it's entirety......the van just deserves that much. What was once a safety net at tournies, creating a lounge and den for the privileged whom encountered it, will be greatly missed. Fond memories will remain, of it's comfort, tranquility, and ability to recycle second hand smoke!
