Default Disc Golf Camps

Hey everyone. I was just wondering if there are any Disc Golf Camps in America? I know their are hundreds of camps for baseball, basketball, tennis and other such sports, but are there any for disc golf?

By Camps I mean like over the summer or just a weekend camp where players can go and learn from experienced amateur and pro players.

Thanks alot guys,

David

David- I've never heard of a disc golf camp. Sometimes pros will put on clinics for newbies when they are in town early for big tournaments. Usually they'll show you techniques for putting, driving, etc. and allow you to ask them questions. They can be very informative. I know the CaroCrew has put on a few and Stokley used to do a bunch back in the day.

A lot of people play disc golf, but there are very few disc golfers...

There will be a disc golf & nature camp at the new Highbridge Hills Sports Complex next summer in beautiful northern Wisconsin. The details are in the process of being worked out but there are already three Championship 18-hole and one 9-hole courses there with design for 18-hole courses numbers 5 & 6 underway next week. The nature part of the camp involves learning bird, plant and tree identification plus other ecological topics for children from about 10-16 (but age ranges haven't been specified yet). Patrick Blake who tied for first at the Am Nationals this year will be one resident pro, and with all of the talent in MN & WI I expect other pros will also participate in some sessions.

Check out the current website at: www.highbridgehillssc.com It will be going thru an upgrade in the next month so look for more information about the camp by December.

Hey I'd definitely be in if it wasn't for the "Nature" Part. How much of the time is actually dedicated to disc golf, and do you think it will be about a week long?

The details haven't been worked out yet. But even if you don't want the 'nature' part, you could always just go there to stay and play as much as you want like a vacation. I'm sure you could get a deal on lodging and meals.

Yeah I could but the thing is I want to be able to learn how to play better. I mean my friends and I play like 4 times a week, but we are just kinda teaching ourselves.

We want to be able to learn from pros or top ams who can teach us how to putt and drive correctly.

I mean we would probably go if the camp was like 70/30 DG to Nature but any higher than that and I dont think so.

I've never heard of anything like that, but I did see something on here about a year ago about a camp where they wanted disc golf counselours. Here is the link to the thread

Chuck,
I love the idea of a disc golf & nature camp. I would be interested in talking with those involved in making this happen. I am a plant scientist at Purdue.

There has been (still is) a Disc Golf college-credit course offered at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha. I have heard of others, like one at UCSD, but cannot confirm.
I have taught a few classes/seminars for kids and beginners, but am limited because of my noodle arm. One resource for you might be course pros at disc golf resorts like Sandy Point or Sipapau. Larger clubs might also be able to help.
As is grows, it sounds like E.D.G.E. might be doing more clinics or camps as well.
Good luck!
