Default Texas State Doubles

Club decision makers!
I need for you all to get together and decide if we (I mean me) want Round Rock to continue running this event. The event was jockey away from snowy farm to make a true championship. I wanted the doubles tradition to live on in Round Rock and so I stepped up.
I have many irons in the fire and I am unable to continue running this event.
I had suggested that the club do it and make it all it can be. If the club is not willing to make this happen, I will have no choice but to allow another city to host the event. I want to see the event be a true championship and I can not concentrate that much effort into it.
So you all need to let me know, lets say before the end of April. May 1st I will decide its fate.

how many of those have ran a sanctioned tourney?

And wonder why no reply after 6 views?

Give it time...this is no easy decision...

The Dragon do such a great job and the course is a championship course that I to would hate to see it leave Round Rock even if I'm just a AM

If I was staying in TX I would be all over that. With as many club members as we have now you could put even 3 or 4 of those heads together and work out a great tourney. If we can get 40 players for a wed. league @3:30!!! than I know our club can run a tourney, just need folks to step up and dedicate. Give back to the game!
RR needs a doubles tournament for sure.

Andrew Carnige didn't know a thing about making steel, but he knew how bring together the right people. Even if no one has run an event in the past, I'm sure that support would surface and the torch could be pasted on to another Dragon.

I hope you all work things out, TX Pro Doubles needs to say in Round Rock.

My feelings on the matter are as follows...

Any TRUE state championship should move around the state. Especially in Texas where there is a TON of good courses. I feel the same way about Texas states as I do about ANY state out there where people are putting on state championships.

IMHO, Old Settlers to me is not the championship course people would like to think it is. It is a breeding ground for distance throwers and wind players. It IS THE BEST training grounds I have ever been around. Before any of you RR's go and hate on me, understand this, I LOVE OLD SETTLERS DG. The best times I have ever had in DG have been at the ROCK!

Let the tourney move around. I feel the same about the AMS tourney also. I don't feel it should be at Randons every single year. I feel a state tourney should be just that-something that showcases the state's courses, not one cities courses year after year.

They are merely tournament names not official championships!!IMO the only true championship in dg is the USDGC where its an honor just to have the opportunity to play!!

Move it around is The club has plenty of non tournament players, they should step up and help run the tournament since they nerver play in sancationed events.

are you talking just about PROS? if so what incentive is there for the club to want to run this?

Same as mine "A championship of doubles at the Rock."
I don't make money on it and I am still willing to help raise money.
And you never know the ams /pros may come together....at least they should.
It would not take much if more than 1 person made it happen. I am not trying to get out of it........I just think its time the club took some accountablity.

true, Old settlers may not be championship caliber compared with some of the other courses that are out there, but it is the most well manicured course in the area and it makes a great doubles course which is why there should be at least one yearly doubles event in RR.

That was a compliment to Old Settlers and the people who play there B. Not many courses raise a beginners game to a greater standard like the ROCK.
