keep gateway opinions on gateway threads. this is a thread about innova's destroyer. feel free to post negative feedback about the destroyer if you want. BUT, no one asked about the blurr. maybe you should start a blurr thread.

When field testing a disc, don't you usually throw it next to something else? I am pretty sure that is how most people do field testing. And in my testing...the blurr was the winner. The other disc's that I tested againts it were a Wraith and a Surge.
Now, would it have made a difference if I had listed out only Innova and Discraft disc instead of a Gateway one? I bet it would have. If you say it wouldn't have then, you better go back and reprimand the people that were talking about Discraft earlier in this thread too.

nothing wrong w/ comparing discs from differing brands to one another. your post only said the blurr was better. tell us how. give us that comparison. it was just in the "tone" of the post, and i have seen this sort of gateway hijack to many times in the past [not from you]. i love gateway. just tired of the tactless gateway hijack attempts. no biggie, and no offense.

My apologies then. I didn't mean anything by it. The "tone" of the post was meant to be more of a true comparison. As for the comparison...the Blurr had similar speed and stability, but the one thing that I found that made it stand out more was that it is easier to grip in the hand. The distances for all four of the disc's were within 5 to 15 ft of each other. The Blurr was the longest, followed by the Destroyer, then the Surge and the Wraith was last.

I was lucky enough to run into Joe "TwisteD FlyeR" Rotan as he was driving back to OK from OR on NY'sEve. He gave me a Pro and Champion TF Destroyer. After a little field testing, I'd have to say that the Pro is less overstable than the Champ or the *. The Pro stayed in the air the longest for my rubber arm, too. The champ was longer than my * also. The star D is a first run os pig. I like the lighter CH and Pro better. They don't tear my 50-year-old arm off like the star does in the colder weather. Thanks again Joe for the unexpected equipment. Great seeing you and Danielle.

I have tried many Star Destroyers since they were released. I throw pretty much all my drivers @ 175g, so this was the weight of the first few Destroyers I bought. I was impressed somewhat, but it did not really make my bag. I got some flukey long throws with them, but I was still getting better average D and control with my Rogues and Wraithes. A couple of weeks ago I was at the store and I found a Destroyer that just felt great. It was only 172g, but I bought it anyway. This thing just bombs. It stays in the air much longer than the heavier ones, and it is definetely the longest disc I have thrown in neutral conditions. I also don't have to hurl it as hard to get the benefits. Like I said, I usually prefer max weight and I have tried lighter variants of my other molds and did not like them. The Destroyer is different. Anyone else with similar findings?

I've noticed the same thing. When I bought a scale I weighed my 175s and most were over 175G. There definitely is a point of diminishing return for disc weight. Too heavy or too light- no good. But 169-172G seems just right.

I only throw between 169-172g. They are the bomb. The max weight ones did not perform like the lighter weights. I throw 174/175 in all my other drivers too.

In my bag i have a 175 & 168 pro destroyer, 175,171, and 168 star destroyer. And i am working in a 172 and 166 dx destroyer. All different weights for different effects. Of course the heavier ones hyzer faster and fight the wind well. The lighter the farther. They have replaced alot of discs in my bag, mainly wraiths. Inever was a big wraith fan and now with the detroyer I have no use for em anymore, i hate wraiths now, lol.

Wow, here I was wondering If I was the only one that seemed to have noticed this. My Destroyer collection includes 3 stars, 175,172,169, and 2 Pros, 175,168. In order of stability, and this is the weird part, they are as follows (from over to under) 175 Pro,172 Star, 168 Pro, 175 Star, 169 Star. I have not weighed them myself, and I have some suspicions. I definitely crush the lighter ones farther backhand, but forehand the heavier ones suit me better. I think that the 175 Star must be mismarked, it appears to be about the same profile as the other Stars, but it will flip. The pros are domey, and I think will beat in to be very long. I carry the 175 Pro and the 169 Star presently, but I like them all. I would say that this mold benefits the most from weight differential of all my drivers, because like the prevailing theme here, all my other distance stuff is max weight. KP

I doubt the weight is wrong. More than likely it just isn't as overstable. I mean I have seen some that hyzer and others that are rollers.

Okay, that is certainly possible, I would still like to weigh'em. I guess I would have been thrown off if I had gotten the 169 and 175 at the same time, without benefit of throwing the others. I would have thought had that happened, that there was no difference at all in the different weights. My dad has a proto stamp 175 Star that is about as stable as my 172 Star. Just an anomaly I suppose. KP

3 Grams means almost nothing but the Protos were more overstable compared to the newer runs.

yeah the 175 star destroyer i have is an x-out and compared with normal star 175's people use, mine is way more overstable. In order of stability mine go 175 pro, 175 star, 171 star, 168 star, 168 pro... And i have a 175 champion and it has a higher turn than my 168 star, but fades alot harder.
