The office is working diligently to sort thru all of the entries to make sure that those who have entered are qualified so the reg and waitlists are correct. Brian told me yesterday don't look for the Worlds reg update until Friday (tomorrow) at the earliest. Andrew is also swamped with tournament reports to process by tomorrow so they can be passed on to the ratings team to process for this next ratings update.

I just looked at the registration list and am wondering how this guy got registered already and is on the tourney list? I looked at his tourney's played list and he doesnt appear to have the points to have received an invite???....Weston Isaacs #40883

Look at the Worlds invite page and it tells you what the player did to get invited.

378 pro points. He has accepted cash so by rights he should have renewed Membership as a pro not an amateur but that is the only thing I can see that is wrong. Even then, according to the PDGA an am can use am points to be counted with pro points but a pro cannot Use any am points to qualify for any Majors, NT events or supertour events So in all, if he had registered as a pro last year he would not have gotten an invite But since he was reg. As an Am he is able to qualify with Am points. Look User the rule " pro playing AM" |

On the pro Invite list when he is registered as a AM?? But either way he qualifies for what ever division he wants to Play just with his am points. Which by the way the pro points are not included in His total points listed on the invite list. Has to be a typo or maybe That is how they figure it? I am confused.... Chuck,
First I want to say thanks to you and Andrew for your hard work And constant communication on updates!! My question is: If a invited player is not current or has not passed the officials Exam, what happens then? Is he given time to correct that? And if so, How long? I Would think so but wasn't sure. I have a friend that is in that situation. And as for the wait list entries, the same question. I know it says The entry is not considered till it is corrected. But do the waitlist people that Are current and have passed the exam, are they used to fill Invalid entry spots or are they Just going to be on the list first before invalid entries.... Thanks |

It's confusing, lol...I dont agree with the the fact that qualifying as an am would allow you to pre-register as a pro player, just doesn't seem right. That's why I don't make the rules, lol...Oh well, just waiting to see how this whole situation shakes out, I know the PDGA folks heads are prolly spinning from all of this and the calls they are receiving daily.

It's the fact that his membership is a AM status and he is On the Pro invite list. That's why I think it is a typo. Whatever I am in the same boat, gotta wait to see where we sit before I Commit to anything. Might just go to watch and let my 15 yr old Play, but my 17 yr old will probably just stay home and work. Who knows. I might even spot a couple of days.

I believe Andrew posted that invited players who registered but were not current or passed the official's test would be moved to the back of the waitlist.

Dave - I can appreciate the desire to know where things stand, but it will take PDGA folks a short while to sort everything out. Not just who registered when, but all birth dates have to be confirmed to assure no one got into the wrong division, and reassign any that did to the correct division or wait list.
There have already been cancellations, which means some slots are shuffling now as the wait list is being confirmed. The notification procedure adds time, but must be followed to allow wait-listers time to respond. Everything is coming together as it should (in circumstances that have never been seen before, BTW). Add to that, the same people squaring registration are responsible for the ratings update that deadlined May 1. The expectation is to have details posted soon. Thanks for your patience. - Jim |

My patience was all of tuesday and all of wednesday. i was not asking to have all the infomration updated and squared away immediatley. I am also aware of how hard Andrew is working. My post was more of the total lack of any information what so ever form the PDGA Bod. Andrew is not the only person that works there and most def. should not be the only one responsiblle for all the work there. all the Bod would have had to have done is put a short article on the home page or come here and posted what you and chuck did. But i feel it should have been done tuesday morning not 3 to 4 days later. secondly Am was full well before Tuesday and there were less than 60 total spots availble going into registration opening up monday night on the pro side. The waitlist could have been a work in progress but the registration page i feel should not have taken 2 full days to update. especially considering according to the online registration page the tournament was full at 9:00 p.m. monday night. But once again i am not complaining about the time it has taken to get things squared away i just made a plea for infomration as opposed to silence. thanks for the reply either way. It is greatly appreciated and you and the Charlotte Crew keep up the good work! Last edited by bgwvdave; May 04 2012 at 12:13 PM. |

Wit. Stoked you got it! If you don't mind me asking and fill free to pm me if you don't want to broadcast but do you know the time signature on your waitlist registration conformation e-mail? I am seeing 11 spots left in MPM. I got my waitlist conformation at 12:10 a.m. and i am hoping like hell i still might get in. Congrats my man!

[QUOTE=bgwvdave;1467343]My post was more of the total lack of any information what so ever form the PDGA Bod.
Just to clarify: Worlds Registration is not among the many responsibilities of the volunteer BOD, it is a staff function led by Andrew, his fellow office staff as needed, and by the Fulfillment House. Regards BDH 1997-2007 PDGA Administrator/Exec Dir |

I agree there has been a lack of knowledge this year. And I agree if I was hoping to get in, I would be very frustrated.
In the defense of Andrew and the staff, the PDGA has NEVER experienced this for a worlds. There was always a saying that anyone who wanted to play worlds, could. And maybe that is a dying thing. But one thing is for sure, if it is a dying thing, it didn't start it's decay to this year. The registration and qualification process should be looked at after this year, but it's not very fair to get upset about this year when this has never happened before.

I think the staff learns something new every year and tries to improve
On it as much as possible. This year is definitely the exception! I look at it this Way, this year might seem a mess from our view and opinions but We really don't know until we have had the chance or burden of What it takes to put together a massive event such as this.... So all I have to say is for now.... Keep doing what you r doing and it will All work out. |

I love the fact that I don't have to drive between courses and all over NC during each day. Thank you, NC.

Which Friday?
Normally I try not to be too snarky on this MB, but the length of time we're having to wait for the updated Am waitlist has been pretty long, with little guidance given on how long that wait will be. Don't misinterpret the lack of questions on this thread to mean the public isn't concerned with seeing the waitlist. We *are* out here wondering what's going on. Thanks.
