Lorelei WAS a Jr 3 and 4 until last year - so this is the first Worlds with the new criteria for her and the lateness of the announced changes caught several people off guard who were /are planning to play.
It still was a crappy way to disseminate info and I'll take my chances along with everyone else to get her a shot to play - and I certainly hope she has the opportunity to do so. We'll see how it goes, and maybe we'll be in Charlotte - if not - oh well.

Keith - the fact that your daughter gets a year older and grows out of one criteria into another criteria doesn't mean the PDGA changed anything, it means your daughter got a year older. Since the criteria has remained the same for 6 years I don't know how you can say people were caught off guard. Perhaps they were not paying attention to ALL of the criteria and missed the fact that their child was growing out of one of the criteria into another, but that is hardly the PDGA's fault. Please also note that the criteria was posted early mid-year just like it always is, no surprise there either. The 2013 criteria will be posted mid-year too.

At Pro Worlds this year, the Pro Master/Grandmaster Women's divisions were limited to 12 players total. The pool filled with only 6 in each division.
Does anyone know if the current plans are to place these 12 players onto four different cards as threesomes to keep play within divisions? Or will they place the 12 players into three four-somes mixing the two divisions? I don't recall mixed division cards at Worlds in preliminary rounds. If they don't mix divisions in preliminary rounds, there will automatically be four cards of players in this pool. Which means they could easily add two players to each division, or four more players to the pool.

You are correct - Lorelei and every other junior gets older every year and since I haven't registered her for Worlds since 2009, I wasn't looking at the info and made the mistaken assumption that a junior was a junior and not an aging player - my fault and I'll live with it if we don't play.
BUT....I didn't know that late OCT is considered midyear, but then again, it seems I don't know much anymore. Either way my last sentence in my last post still applies. I don't really give a crap anymore.

OK so what time "exactly' will non-invitees be able to pre-reg? May 1st is Tuesday, but I keep hearing Monday as the day. Is it midnight on May 1st or what?

If it were me, I'd try midnight GMT and then midnight Eastern DST.

I see on the home page that it talks of the waitlist and invalid registrations.
Which by the way, thank you PDGA for posting before the may 1st deadline!! This is what I read..... "Many other invalid registrations have been received from players who were either a) not invited, b) not 2012 current members, or c) not Certified Officials, so those registrations are not yet included on the waitlist. Once the necessary registration requirements are met for one of those invalid registrations it will then be added to the end of the waitlist." What happens to the ones who wait till the required date to sign up because of not being on the "invite list"? Do they get put on before or after the invalid registrations? Thanks |

In the past the mixed doubles has been one round of best shot and one round of alternating shot.

I signed my daughter (uninvited) at 12:01 as has been advertised. I assume anyone (uninvited) signing up before 12:01 will not be given these spots? Please confirm that the rules were not changed midstream... |

I tried to do the same thing. The page still said I couldn't sign her up unless invited. I waited a few minutes, then I couldn't get the page to load. When it reloaded, it said "waitlist" on every division. I don't know if that was a glitch or if everyone else got through besides me and filled it. Either way, I registered her and am waiting to see what happens. My other daughter and I were invited and are already in. We are planning our family vacation around Worlds, so I hope she gets in. I sure don't want to have to tell her she didn't.

I can't even imagine how many waitlist entries they are going to
Have to go through. I Am sure it will be a task that will take them a bit And I am confident they will be fair to those that followed the criteria as well. I registered on the waitlist as well. I must be crazy because I had to get up 3 1/2 Hours and go to work... Lol. Don't know if I did it for my kids or for the love of the Sport. Lol Good luck all!! |

I took my officials exam a few days ago, then tried to register for worlds (did not receive an invite). There was an option for a waitlist. I selected that option. Does this mean that when 12:01am hit last night, that I did not have to do anything and I was automatically entered into the tourney since I had passed my exam and I am a current member? Please advise. This has been a mess. This is what I received in an email from the pdga once I registered for that waiting list....(I left out some personal info for those that hate me, lol)......

Cambagger,
This is on the home page under the "wait lists" ""Many other invalid registrations have been received from players who were either a) not invited, b) not 2012 current members, or c) not Certified Officials, so those registrations are not yet included on the waitlist. Once the necessary registration requirements are met for one of those invalid registrations it will then be added to the end of the waitlist." From what I understand, if you did sign up before the may1st Deadline and not an invited player then you would qualify for An invalid registration......that's how I read it anyways. |

I was advised to go to the store and do this from a PDGA person in the office when I called. I spoke with Andrew today and he said that the tourney had filled before the may 1st deadline and that all would be added to the waitlist. He also said that they hoped to have it up online by tomorrow, so everyone could see where they were on the waitlist.

All I know is that what I was told and what I understood is that
If you were not a invited player you must wait till the may1st open Registration date no matter if it fills or not. That way people That are invited will have first choice on the waitlist. Then after May 1st it is first come first serve basis. I knew about 10 people That had to wait and I would hope that they will stick to the criteria Set for all to follow. If not, then it really wouldn't be fair to those who Followed the rules. |

As far as they are telling us, they are full, although if you check the confirmed list of registered players they are short on the pro side by 35 and pro masters at 36...not sure what that is about. Probably no time to update yet which will hopefully be tomorrow sometime. I registered at 12:01 when open reg. started but no idea where we sit at this
point. |

What would be really cool, is if they were able to stretch the PRO and PRO MASTER side a bit to allow for more players (WINK WINK), just not sure how that would happen unless they started 1 hour earlier at the tee time courses. then you would have to figure out something for the other 2 courses unless they added a course to the Pro schedule instead of playing one of courses twice, but of course keep renny at 2 times. But it is easier said than done. But if it were to be done it would have to be soon in order to be ready.

In but me and my older son probably won't make the cut. We had made reservations and plans since January thinking There would be room in the pro divisions.... Just the chance you take I guess. So it might be a cruise for us.... UGH!! Still hoping though. ![]() The points killed us, we don't have any "A" tiers in Florida and in order To get the points needed you have to hit alot of stops and finish really Well since the pro divisions don't exactly have a big turn out to often. It can get expensive when you are paying for 3 people at an average Of 60 to 90 dollars per to play, not counting travel and lodging. |

2 fulll days after Worlds pregistration deadline has ended and NO ONE on here knows anyhting about what is going on. most division are not full according to the list of players on the event registration page. The waitlist is not updated at all and there has not been one single post on here this week by anyone from the PDGA giving us any information at all. This is the biggest tournament the PDGA puts on every year. it is our premier evet. Can someone PLEASE just let us know what is going on? Anything....a time line, a simple excuse as to what is causing the delay ANYTHING is better than nothing. Thanks
