Any word or web site explaining the schedule of the worlds. I'm not concerned about the courses at this point. I know they will rock, but I need to find out when the opening ceremony is, the first day of play, last day of play, etc. so I can get off of work. Thanks

Dates are July 14-21st 2012

Historically - Mixed doubles and field Events are on Sun and MON. Singles play runs TUES thru SAT with cut to top Semi-final positions for each divison on FRI and Semi-finals and Finals are on SAT afternoon - so you are for saure playing singles TUES- FRI and if good enough SAT.

Good luck with your plans and see you there.

Keith

Invites are posted online in early February once yearend point totals are final. Email invites with more event details are usually sent mid-March.

Hey, if anyone knows, for the distance contest at Worlds, can a player compete in a division for which he or she is eligible even if that is not the division he or she is playing for Singles? Can a person pay more than one entry fee for distance and compete in more than one division? Various players named Brakel need to know!

Anyone know of information on costs for a spot at the flymart and how to attain spot?

Bruce, I may be looking for a partner for mixed doubles if your daughter is still looking for one.

Cant wait for my first Worlds!

Quick question while I'm thinking of it. I'm planning on coming and playing in Advanced division and it's my first Worlds. What is Dress Code? I read the rules in the PDGA Guide and it states for a major (which this is) that it's a polo or dri-fit tshirt NOT a regular cotton tshirt unless you're a junior or am. Would Advanced be considered an AM in worlds? I'm just basically asking if I could wear a plain tshirt for prelims on T/W/Th/F? Thanks!

[QUOTE=keithjohnson;1464466]True Bruce, but keep in mind with it being a combined Worlds with a limited number of players - Juniors may be on the BOTTOM of people or last to be invited if spots remain (which I believe is the reason for the change to begin with as the PROS would whine like crazy if they had to be waitlisted while a junior got in) - it will go PROS first, them AMS - so we'll see if any can get to sign up or get in that aren't invited - but if Santa Cruz in 2011 is any indication - (NO ONE who wasn't invited and wanted to play who wasn't REGISTERED as a PRO got in and it sold out 2 months in advance.)
Unless you were the sportman of the year and then you could just show up to play.

Actually I don't think this is correct. I know there were at least two amateur masters women that were not invited, and able to get in. Myself being one of them. I know I was able to register only a couple of hours after it open to non invitee amateurs. It did sell out very quick at that point, but some amateurs did get in. It was an awesome experience.

Can't wait for 2012 Worlds!!

Cindy

How about internet charges? I hear it is only free in the lobby. It would be nice to have discounted internet in the rooms. BTW I already have my room booked at the Blake, and it is nice to hear that maybe the parking fees have been reduced.

Parking won't be an issue. You can pay to park at the hotel or at the cheaper Courthouse deck about two blocks away. There is also on-street parking a block away, and more beyond that (after 6 pm it's free). There is also a church pay lot two blocks away that's reasonably priced.

Does the great state of North Carolina have a no-smoking policy in eateries? I would guess "not" since Sir Walter Raleigh and the tobacco growers probably have a lobbying grip lock on the state and one of its biggest cash crops.

Haha, funny.

But yes, it is illegal to smoke inside eateries and bars in NC.

I have 505 total points. Roughly half from AM1 and half from
MPO. Do I qualify? Will I get an invite?
Want to book a room but need more clarification.

Thanks

The points don't add together. Your am points are used to qualify for an am invite and your pro points go towards an possible pro invite. The invite criteria for this year is on links on this page: http://www.pdga.com/world-championships

Well that stinks. When will registration open up for everyone?
That is if spots are available.
Anyone know how many spots will be available for either
AM1 or MPO?

Thanks

Don't worry. If you don't get an invitation you will still get "in" when you send in your reggie on the first day you are allowed to send it. If you snooze, you may not get "in".

Pterodactyl
I appreciate your help. Please clarify. I should just register when it opens and
that puts me on some sort of waiting list?
Thanks again. Not going to miss this worlds if I can help it.

The people with the invites have the first chance to sign up. When that time frame ends, all others that want to play can sign up. The invitees never fill the tournament. If you sign up the first day (I recommend doing that electronically) following the "invites only" you will be "in" the worlds and not on any waiting list. See you there! KL

I think eagle club members should get automatic invites.
