that's what "pro/am" really means to a bunch of people who show up for our minis.....cause that's the only way to easily divide up the top half (the "pros", note the quotation marks), and the bottom half (the "ams").

speaking for myself, i like singles or handicap singles. Also like pro/am. One good point about which format to play is, weather....I would assume that as far as singles vs doubles goes, its preferable to do doubles at the hottest part of the summer and leave singles for the non-hottest part.....and that's something another cabinet member brought up the other day.... in the end, we voted and pro/am was what we came up with.

Lets do pro/am at least tomorrow, and also tomorrow, lets get a straw poll from everyone there as to what they want for the next league. If its overwhelmingly something other than pro/am....then we do what the majority wants! It should also be stated that other than one non cabinet member, we (cabinet) haven't heard much as far as suggestions...just reactions after a decision is made. Much preferrable to do what the majority of the MEMBERS want.

And of course, if you want it done your own way....by all means run for the cabinet next year.

An open meeting, as required twice a year in the by-laws, might be a good oportunity to get member feed back. Thought we were having one in Feb following the Bag Tag Challange, but I never heard anything & it's almost June.

If you're asking here, the same 7 people are gonna say the same thing we've said for years - doubles doesn't help my game any more than it does Vinnie's. I don't consider the weather when considering the format - if I'm competing, I'm playing sun, rain, wind, sleet, etc., so weather is just not a factor for me. & I find changing the format because of weather insulting (playing dubs on an announced singles night because it's too windy or there's a threat of rain - really, I'm gonna pull out of the Vibram because there's a freak snow storm in Sept in Mass - not so much). I understand we want big numbers at the mini - trust me - you asked for input, & I'm offering it.

If you're asking @ the mini - generally half the group cares & half the group wants to have fun & we all have trouble remembering what the ideas that so & so brought to us @ or before sign up by the time we finish the round. Also the group that cares is often put to he side because it's the voice of a few squeakie wheels that don't wanna just go with the heard continuing to play doubles.

Remember guys you were elected by your piers, they have trust in you that you will make the right decisions for the club. Members should be offering constant feedback in a positive manner, but unfortunately most ot the time it makes it's way to a public forum and is viewed as a negitive. Good, bad or indiffrent it's best to make decisoins and move on.

7 days in a week and weds is not the day to either earn $$ or play serious golf or at least that is the way the club started out. hence $3 entry fee. if folks are really serious about trying to improve their game they should play at a different mini or try practicing on their own time..

Agreed! Wednesday is a fun day! And should stay that way

As far as earning money....you have to go South to play money minis. Everything up North is for fun......my biggest payday at a regular Round Rock mini is about $22..............last Monday at circle C first got $70, So when I play in a Round Rock mini......my expectations are not high.........too bad all the good course are here in Round Rock.....if we only had a" all the time" singles mini.....we would attract players outside of the club So we could compair our skills with someone other than our drinking buddies.........but this is coming from the only 1000 rated player in Round Rock......ever wonder why we don't have more 1000 rated players with the courses we have......when there is a solid handfull 1000 rated players in Austin that play crappy courses..........we do have more fun though.
Looking forward to playing tonight!

Once again the rain knows to leave OSP alone on Wednesdays. Now if we could just teach the wind to be as respectful.

I'll get scores up later today, but the highlight was CWare/Keith turning in a STUNNING 6 down, 6 strokes ahead of the 2nd place team.

ratings i guess matter relative to everyone else, so as to know who is in top half and bottom half. Other than that, the absolute number is meaningless for dividing up the crowd.

So did you apply the appropriate penalty for mis-scoring the hole?
